Do y'all think it's better to give my notice(one month) on a Thursday and act like "I just made this decision last night and came to tell you as fast as I can" or on Friday so I don't have to have an awkward day the next day?

I work in a very small office so ... if this goes badly it's going to be a very awkward month.

Law school isn't a decision that's made overnight, so I wouldn't try and act like it is.

I don't think it makes a difference if you do it on Thursday or Friday. I'd just go in, be positive about your experience at the company, explain that you're leaving for school, and ask what you can do in the next month to transition well.

Agreed. A month is a ton of lead time anyway. Personally I gave notice on a Friday but that was just because I wanted my last day to be Friday.

I'm sure it would be much more interesting to simply leave a ransom note taped to my computer(and even more interesting to see if anyone attempts a rescue) but it just seems like too much work to keep up the ruse.

Just sent an e-mail out to my boss (that delays the delivery until 6:00 pm today when I leave from work) stating my resignation and how I would provide further details in our weekly meeting tomorrow.

Thursdays are weird. Thursday mornings suck, but by Thursday afternoon I finally feel that I'm on the downslope to the weekend.

Now that my thoughts on Thursdays in general have been dealt with, a question to those who are having jitters about giving notice/quitting/throwing a tantrum and storming out:

What exactly do you feel you owe your employer? You did a job, and you were paid. If they wanted to ensure that you would stick around they could have given you a contract binding you to them (and thereby guaranteeing your employment). But no, they chose "at will" employment so that they could terminate you at any time, and now they are experiencing the other side of that. So why the heartache?

Today is my Friday. Two three-day weekends in a row. Already coming up with a creative illness to catch so that I can extend the streak to three. For real though, it's the employer's fault. If they hadn't started making us work full days on Friday, I would probably still be coming in 3/4 of the Fridays I have already scheduled off this summer.

tuesday off early.
wednesday alone in office.
thursday alone in office.
friday off.
and $$ errday.
this is the dream, as far as i'm concerned (at least until i'm done at the end of july haha)

I very much approve of this idea. I already gave notice a while ago, but may still set the building on fire, because my employer definitely deserves to burn.
