Part of it may just be that I'd like the scholarships-by-the-end-of-January interpretation to be true for obvious reasons, but it seems strange that they'd send a separate email with additional information about how to apply when the acceptance email appears to have provided all the information (i.e., that those seeking need-based aid need to fill out Need Access). Based on the ASW and their regular website, there won't be any additional steps for merit-based aid, so I can't imagine what further instructions they'd be sending.

And even if they're sending an additional email with aid instructions/info, the way they've worded it wouldn't make much sense. I read "this letter" as referring to the electronic acceptance letter; I don't see why they'd say "letter" to refer to what they've just called an "email," and it would be more natural/clear to write "that" rather than "this" to refer to the email mentioned earlier in the sentence.

It's definitely an unclear and ambiguous sentence, but I think it makes more sense if read to say that (1) we'll follow up with financial aid/scholarships, and (2) we'll do so in about a month.

I read it initially as scholarships within a month of that email, but then everyone else was told early March, including ED people, so now I've decided it meant that there will be a scholarship/aid email at some point and then a decision within a month of that. I would be super pleased to be proven wrong though.

I'm pretty sure you can expect it within a month of receiving your acceptance letter. If I recall, the first two letters I got from the U of Chicago were my acceptance letter, followed by the scholarship info. It was all by e-mail. I got my acceptance e-mail on 1/23 (was the first wave) and my financial aid info on 3/7 (also the first wave). Since you guys are ahead of that schedule this year, those of you have been accepted thus far will probably get scholarship news by the end of February.

Congrats to you all on being accepted. It's a huge accomplishment and this is a great law school. Feel free to PM me at any point with questions.
