Since I haven't read the actual opinion - and I have no intention of doing so - I will reconcile your contention and what Prof. G told us.Gray wrote:I still don't think it makes sense ...scooby-doo taught me all ghosts are really just sad lonely old people getting pleasure out of scaring their neighborhood. how can the court say otherwise!!?Minnietron wrote:Possibly the best thing I've learned in 1L is that a house can be found haunted as a matter of law. Thanks for facilitating that knowledge, Gray!
It is obvious "Haunted" is a defined term of art meaning: "When a sad, lonely old person gets pleasure out of scaring their neighborhood."

It depends on the workload for the day. But, if there is a quality case brief out there, 9/10 times I will read that and skim the opinion.Hikkomorist wrote:Have people generally stopped reading cases?Gray wrote:I'd read the case but that requires reading.
P.S. The "haunted" case in question was a non-mandatory one though.

Re: You Can't Spell Lunatic Without 1L
I read the case. I have zero understanding of what law means or how cases work, but I'm pretty sure it was just that a dude trying to get out of a contract for a house he bought was claiming it was haunted, and the defendant, when he owned the house, had put it on ghost tours and talked publicly about how it was haunted in several national publications, so he couldn't deny it. So since the plaintiff claimed it was haunted and the defendant had to admit it because he couldn't deny it or claim he didn't know, as a matter of law it was haunted

I will be starting a service called xylo case briefs. Instead of reading, just ask me to summarize, and I will tell you the most interesting things I remember about the case.
Sample Xylobrief:
Someone v. Pepsico -- 20-year-old somehow casually raises $700,000?? But it didn't count because you had to look at the catalog or whatever. The commercial was too hilarious to be legit. Dude doesn't get the plane.

What are the terms and conditions of this service? If agreeable, I would like to request Ashcroft v. Iqbal please.xylocarp wrote:I will be starting a service called xylo case briefs. I propose a counter-offer. Instead of $100,000 for a lifetime membership, you will get naming rights to my next Iguana in exchange for a two month membership.xylocarp wrote: $100,000 for a lifetime membership

I simply cannot wait to read another case having to do with railroads, mining, construction, or tug boats. There just aren't enough of them.

Nah finance cases are the worst. I get hot flashes every time I see the word "trustee."

One other thing: the poll is starting to make me sad, so can we change it soon?
