Literally the only things I've done to prep are read Getting to Maybe and One Plus One Doesnt Always Equal Two.Iagreetotheseterms wrote:Is anybody else already prepping for 1L? If so, how?
I'm trying to save up as much as I can for living expenses. Tuition is almost fully paid for, but the housing is stressing me out big time.

Implying that reading hundreds of pages on law and law school doesn't have a calming and relaxing effect.hairbear7 wrote:Nope. Enjoying the calm before the stormIagreetotheseterms wrote:Is anybody else already prepping for 1L? If so, how?

Yeah I've read Getting to Maybe, Law School Confidential, 700 pages of Chemerinsky's Constitutional Law, etc. (Have no life)ilikebaseball wrote:Literally the only things I've done to prep are read Getting to Maybe and One Plus One Doesnt Always Equal Two.Iagreetotheseterms wrote:Is anybody else already prepping for 1L? Couldn't find your second book on a cursory google search.

Will be traveling in June, then relocating to wherever in July.

All of the above probably...working/saving till the end of July, then going to Vegas and maybe Utah for a few weeks, trying to hit the gym on the regular, all that fun stuff.
I feel like there's so much crap I have to take care of before classes start, and not enough time to do it all lol

My school has a suggested summer reading list, but I don't have any of their suggestions. I do have Law 101: Everything You Need to Know About American Law by Jay Feinman. Is that a waste?

Re: 0Ls, what are you doing the summer before law school?
I'm sorta lucky on the gym end because I've been continuously going about 6 days a week for the last 3 or 4 years. But I still am stressing hardcore about housing and craigslist isnt being as reliable as I initially hoped lol.
I've decided I'm probably gonna order LEEWS too because of all the recommendations. Getting to Maybe is a surprisingly easy read. I thought it would just be this boring book that I would think "why tf would I do that strategy" but its a really easy book to get through.

Reading some law school prep books as well as non law related materials, working until July and then travelling a bit before relocating

Working until mid-July, then taking a week to spend with my family since I'm likely moving 1000+ miles away. I'll probably move the first week of August.

Work+Study+Triathlon Training. Compared to the past few months of cycle decision anxiety, there's nothing that wouldn't feel relaxing before the semester starts up.

Quoting my job last day of June. I'll probably read Getting to Maybe and LEEWS in July. Other than that I'll work out and sun bathe

Did the World Cup suddenly become an annual event? Unless I'm missing something, pretty sure the next one is 2018.usn26 wrote:Also: World Cup

Women's World Cup is in Canada. Easy enough drive for me.Yeezus wrote:Did the World Cup suddenly become an annual event? Unless I'm missing something, pretty sure the next one is 2018.usn26 wrote:Also: World Cup
And yeah, I think there is a World Cup every year now between the women and the youth (under 20) world cups.

Re: 0Ls, what are you doing the summer before law school?
Just got an email for a summer class jump start
Take 2 credit and 1 credit classes over the summer before Fall classes start and have a smaller workload in the Fall
Any opinions on them?
To me in general it sounds good -- focus on smaller workload to get into the groove. Less students more chance for participation or question help

Sounds like another way for them to squeeze more tuition $$ out of their students to mestorpappa wrote:Just got an email for a summer class jump start

Re: 0Ls, what are you doing the summer before law school?
i'm a 0L and considered applying for summer start at some schools where that was offered though, to make the transition smoother for myself. for the tutition, it depends on the school. some keep it the same because you'll ultimately be taking the same amount of courses just spreading them out over summer and fall. you will be paying more in housing and other living costs though if you're moving to a new area with higher COLHand wrote:Sounds like another way for them to squeeze more tuition $$ out of their students to mestorpappa wrote:Just got an email for a summer class jump start

Re: 0Ls, what are you doing the summer before law school?
It turned out to be just over $4k extra plua a month earlier housing... and since the Fall is reduced by 3 credits, its still full tuition in the fall.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
