Why are they never in Denver. Why are they never in Denver.tonysoprano wrote:Got the email an hour agoNotASpecialSnowflake wrote:Did anyone else just get the invite to the regional receptions?Does anyone have any more information on them?
ETA: From my point of view, seems like a cool opportunity to hear about Penn's reach to my location

Just to clarify something, for the Toll Public Interest Scholarship does it mean 300 per essay or 300 total? The wording is slightly unclear

BYOB? Mine listed receptions in Chicago, LA, Miami, NY, SF, Seattle, and DC but never said anything about booze...schmelling wrote:philadelphians- whats up with the byob trend? seems cool, but byob is uncommon where i'm from.

Quick research, probably a little wrong, but also a little right.
It's probably due to limits on the number of liquor licenses in Philly, which produce steep prices for licesenses.
Which leads to restaurants just saying, "fuck it, bring your own." Maybe where you're from everyone and their mom can can sell liquor.

Re: University of Pennsylvania c/o 2018 Admits
The one thing I've never seen before I visited Pennsylvania was a drive thru beer store. For me I found it especially humorous because we were right in the heavy amish or mennonite area when I saw one. I had this vision of someone with a horse and buggy buying beer from the drive thru.schmelling wrote:That makes sense. I think its kind of cool actually. Makes it somewhat economical to drink somewhere besides home before going out.Skool wrote:Quick research, probably a little wrong, but also a little right.

Very odd laws regarding who can sell booze, and even what types of booze can be sold by one place. You can BYOB just about anywhere though, which is pretty cool actually.

I see the Wilson scholarship listed here as $60k-$75k. But the email says $75k-$105k. That's a pretty big difference. Anyone know which one is right?

I would normally go with that but it also says 60-75 on Penn's scholarship page. I think the website/TLS just has not updated that page for new year. My Silverman-Rodin scholarship email says full/half/third tuition covered, while the website still says full/half/nothing.NotASpecialSnowflake wrote:I would normally go with that but it also says 60-75 on Penn's scholarship page. What's the general consensus about proper attire for the Tolls Scholar video portion?

How do the named scholarships work? If you are invited for the Levy (for instance) and don't get it, are you automatically considered for the lesser scholarships if you don't get it? Are the named scholarships the only way to get above $100k from Penn?
