Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2018
For my first year of law school I lived in a townhouse right by the Shady Grove metro - less than 2K per month. Commuting from Shady Grove every day isn't so bad - and having all that living space is GREAT. plus the metro is like dedicated catching-up-on-reading time.johmica wrote:Anyone planning on renting in the 'burbs and taking the train in? I've seen multiple bedroom/multiple bath houses (yes, houses) on Craigslist in Rockville, MD, for well under $2000/month. Especially since I have kids and the space/yard would be an incredible perk, the 45 minute train commute seems like a small price to pay.
There is seriously fuck-all worth doing near the GULC campus (at least enough to justify living there in my mind)

Anyone have a recommendation for a good way to find a roommate? I'd prefer to live off campus but everyone I know in the city is married I'm limited I'm basically out of luck there.

There's a roommate search site for anyone affiliated with Georgetown (law students and otherwise):Revelation wrote:Anyone have a recommendation for a good way to find a roommate? I'd prefer to live off campus but everyone I know in the city is married I'm limited I'm basically out of luck there.

In terms of on/off campus, I found a great deal in the NoMa area. Even though I will have to furnish it, it still comes off way cheaper than on campus housing and with more space/better amenities. I definitely recommend looking around before committing to on-campus!

I had this exact thought yesterday. Once housing is settled there will be nothing left until August. So strange.accessislife wrote:weird to have nothing to be neurotic over

I'm trying to sell my house. I've got a buyer. A previous homeowner, a college professor, motivated. He's got a loan application in at his bank. If the house sells, the equity moves me and my family to the area. If it doesn't, it's a top 60 program within driving distance. Plenty to stay awake at night over . . .Gray wrote:The only think I'm being neurotic over is Mr Gray's immigration stuff. There's a status checker and everything. So how important are those Dean's Cert forms and degree-granting transcript? Keep on forgetting about those.

I believe the admin person goes by Addy Admissions on Facebook - pretty sure that's someone in the admissions office. Also, if you know anyone else in the group, they can invite you. If you don't know anyone in the group, you can PM me and I'll invite you.WhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:I haven't been accepted either. Additionally, when you know you're 100% committed to GULC, we have a LinkedIn page. You can PM me for that link as well.

+1. Lived up near Bethesda and it was fine. If you're a recent college grad and you want to really immerse yourself in the social scene, then you'll probably want to live closer. I know some people who didn't live in Gewirz lived on Mass Ave and it's an easy walk. But if you're married/older and don't see yourself doing a lot of bar reviews/ragers, I think living a little further out is fine. The one drawback is it's a lot harder to make yourself go to evening receptions/presentations even when they look legitimately interesting.zacharus85 wrote:For my first year of law school I lived in a townhouse right by the Shady Grove metro - less than 2K per month.
