Guess it had to be done regardless. Definitely a bummer though, especially considering Cornell has been a top choice for me from the beginning.

Do tax returns have to be in to receive a finaid offer? I thought FAFSA and needaccess were enough to get the prelim offer, but I got those in before some of those ITT who got offers. Hmm.

I'm hoping we get something tomorrow, but I imagine they won't do another round until next week.

Don't think it's a big deal. A lot of people last year waited through April.

As an occasional lurker who rarely posts, I feel like I should preface this post with the fact that I'm not 100% clear about all of the tls etiquette and so I want to preemptively apologize if my post breaks any particular tls taboos - I don't know where else to post and everyone here seems to have good insight into law school decisions that I can't get anywhere else. With all of that said -
In the interests of full honesty, I originally applied to cornell because it's a T14 and they gave me a fee waiver. I figured that I would most likely get in, but it wouldn't be a real choice for me for various reasons, (family in berkeley/nyc) and that the amount of money they would have to offer me to make it a real contender was very unlikely to happen. I ended up getting in with a full tuition scholarship (Charles Evan Hughes - 170/3.9, u of m Ann Arbor undergrad [i know most ppl don't post full stats but since that always annoyed me I figured I'd be more straightforward haha]. Right now I'm realistically considering Columbia Berkeley cornell and NYU (VERY long shot scholarship).
I'm really looking for some advice/opinions about the real differences between these options. How much does top 5 vs top 10 vs top 14 really matter? I know that it of course matters what you want to do post law school - im honestly not really sure. I have no financial info from the other schools which is also obviously going to be a huge factor. I have family/friends on the west coast (from LA originally, want to ultimately practice on the west coast). But I also reat want to live in NYC at some point and kind of feel like if not now when since I want to practice on the west coast. I'm probably not interested in academia, but do have an interest in possibly pursuing a judicial clerkship.
Sorry for the wall of text/if this isn't the right place for this question - just looking for some more informed opinions (as in not from my family/biased friends in SF+NYC none of whom know anything about law school).
Final note - I'm not incredibly debt averse but do want to minimize debt if possible).
Thanks in advance for any help/advice - honestly any opinions will be appreciated.
Final final note (feeling a little ridiculous) - is it taboo to post this same thing in Columbia/berkeley threads?

You should make a stand-alone thread instead of 1) asking a bunch of (prospective) Cornell students and/or 2) Asking a bunch of Columbia/Berkeley students
Congrats though!

Yeah, go to choosing a law school sub forum and make a new thread there.

Is there a deadline to accept/decline scholarships? There wasn't anything in the email, so I'm just assuming the deadline is April 24th ?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
