Also the email we just got from Rakoff says he's teaching Contracts, but Dope/the course catalogue say he's teaching Legislation. Do they have to fight now or what.

I'm in section 4! Yay! Anyone in the same section?
Earliest class at 9:50. Seems not that bad.

So if a prof tells us to purchase a book, but doesn't mention which edition, do we assume we should get the most recent edition or that it doesn't matter?

Circling back: Rakoff is definitely teaching Legislation and Regulation.TripTrip wrote:Let me work on getting that straightened out.leslieknope wrote:Heymujiali wrote: Same section(as leslie not mack).

Which professor listed a book without an edition? Every 1L professor provided a list of ISBNs, so we have all the edition information.Orion311 wrote:So if a prof tells us to purchase a book, but doesn't mention which edition, do we assume we should get the most recent edition or that it doesn't matter?

Re: Harvard Law School Class of 2018
I'm probably being impatient - I'm assuming actual book information will be provided when we can actually access the course links/information and whatnot. But in the welcome letter from Prof Kennedy he says:TripTrip wrote:Circling back: Rakoff is definitely teaching Legislation and Regulation.TripTrip wrote:Let me work on getting that straightened out.leslieknope wrote:Heymujiali wrote: Same section(as leslie not mack).

"Please purchase Rules of Contract Law (Knapp, Crystal and Prince) and the contracts
casebook, Problems in Contract Law (Knapp, Chrystal & Prince, seventh edition)."
So no edition for the first one

Trip, a question for you regarding books listed on Dope... is there any vetting done of the statements re. book quality/damage/highlighting level? I figured that would be a little too much work to do, and this is more of a "I'll go meet the person and see the book before I pay" kinda thing... correct?

Looks like he wants you to have the 2015-2016 edition.Orion311 wrote:I'm probably being impatient - I'm assuming actual book information will be provided when we can actually access the course links/information and whatnot. Sadly we can't vet the condition statements; there are just too many (and it would take away from the direct, student-to-student nature of the sale that keeps it so cheap).mujiali wrote:Trip, a question for you regarding books listed on Dope... is there any vetting done of the statements re. book quality/damage/highlighting level? Quick question - what day do actual classes start? Wednesday, September 2nd?
I'm still getting used to all the different logins and figured it would be easier to ask here.

Yup! But, according to the academic calendar, it's a Monday schedule.pylon wrote:Quick question - what day do actual classes start? Wednesday, September 2nd?

It means you follow your class schedule for Monday. I think it is cause federal and mass holidays screw Mondays. As do the winter storms. So they try to get at least one lost Monday back haha.

Ah, so Sept 2 will be treated as a Monday, but the next day will revert to the regular schedule...?mujiali wrote:It means you follow your class schedule for Monday. Aside, but there are 82 people who voted that they're coming to HLS in the poll, damn. That's an entire section's worth of people who have TLS accounts.

Anyone have any ideas where we could find old outlines and exams from our visiting professors?

Ask on the "Ask an X Student" thread for that school? I've seen people do it that way.Elyane wrote:Anyone have any ideas where we could find old outlines and exams from our visiting professors?
