same question. I am so confused at Georgetown's financial aid/scholarship process.usn26 wrote:Umm, just got the award ... it only gives information for the first year? Is that right? No information on renewal, merit/need, anything.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2018
i have the same confusion as the posts above. only got info for first year? I don't understand the whole difference between the merit versus need, I understand the total will be the greater of the two, but not to exceed that value. so what i see on my access is both correct?
also, do we negotiate with the financial aid office or admissions or what...?

Good to know, didn't get a good chance to go through everything earlier, so hopefully this means more money from merit will be coming my way.Gray wrote:Need based information comes from financial aid, merit based aid comes from admissions. If you got an email titled "Georgetown Law Financial Aid Award Letter" from finaid@law.georgetown.edu, that's need aid.

My merit award is listed as "Law Dean's Scholars."Gray wrote:Yeah I think we figured out that the Dean's tuition grant is strictly need based - but please someone who has definitely received merit-aid confirm that you got something different?

Now I feel like an idiot because I responded to my need aid award with my other scholly offers looking to negotiate, thinking this was the final offer... but oh well, how are we supposed to know???
Advice if I should send a follo-up apologizing/explaining my mistake?
Maybe you can recall the email?

Well, I guess I'm pretty poor, because my need aid sealed it. See y'all in the fall.

Been lurking for a few days, figured I would come out of the proverbial shadows...
How many people from the "late March" batch are still waiting on schollys?
Radio silence for me, however, I did send in an update to my file about a week ago, letting them know about another offer.
Also, I'm assuming we're going to have to wait at least until next Monday or Tuesday seeing as GULC takes off today?

Especially since its technically a Jesuit institution.buckiguy_sucks wrote:Admissions has worked when the school was off on other occasions, I guess a religious holiday is different than spring break but there's a chance they're in.handyman wrote: Also, I'm assuming we're going to have to wait at least until next Monday or Tuesday seeing as GULC takes off today?

PSA: It's outlining time for us. Be courteous to those who need to speak to our professors. Most potential students have been good with this.

So, has anyone been able to waive the first seat deposit by signing some kind of commitment form or something? As noted above, I'm po', and the move to DC is going to be tough as it is.

So does that mean no merit aid if we only got the finaid email?
