Hi guys,
Would you please share your idea about the best books for studying civil law and procedure?
I'm looking for a book with a simple explanation, charts, a summary of the conception of the case, and real daily examples of concepts and cases.
Thanks

If you want to cut to the chase
Read old Bar Exams and the model answers
I only wish I had done that sooner

Hi xmixx68,
It depends if you are looking for something to help with law school exams, or to ace this subject on the Bar Exam - there is a difference in how you should study it.
If it is for law school exams, a lot of students find the Examples and Explanations series to be very helpful for this particular subject.
If you need help on this subject for the bar exam, we (and probably other bar preparation companies as well) will be happy to provide you with some materials free of charge that you will likely find very helpful in understanding the most heavily tested Civ Pro concepts

If you’re looking for great books on civil law and procedure that break things down simply, I’ve got a couple of recommendations for you:
“Civil Procedure: Examples & Explanations” by Joseph W. Glannon - This one is a favorite among students because it’s super approachable. It offers clear explanations, tons of examples, and even some humor to keep things interesting. The book also includes charts and summaries to help you grasp the concepts quickly.
“Understanding Civil Procedure” by Gene R. Shreve, Peter Raven-Hansen, and Charles Geyh - Another solid choice, this book lays out civil procedure in a way that’s easy to follow. It’s got plenty of real-world examples and breaks down complex ideas into more digestible pieces.
“The Glannon Guide to Civil Procedure” by Joseph W. Glannon - If you like the first book I mentioned, this one is a great companion. It’s structured like a Q&A and helps reinforce what you’ve learned with practical questions and answers.
These books should give you a solid foundation with simple explanations, charts, and real-life examples to make the concepts stick. Hope this helps, and happy studying!
