Hi all, I am in a jurisdiction that recently delayed its bar exam from September to October 5th & 6th. Prior to the delay, I had completed 14% of my course. I have since been advised by my course director to hold off studying until July. My plan is to re-start studying on July 6th, giving me 13 more weeks to prepare.
I am also, however, moving into a new apartment with my SO. Our lease begins in August 1st. I am lucky enough to be in a position where I can stay at my current residence until after I have taken the bar exam, but my preference would be to move-in at the start of our lease.
I am looking for advice/thoughts on whether it’s a good idea to move-in in August 1st or if it would be better to wait until after the bar. While I would rather make the move, I am concerned that moving & settling into a new place will be too much of a distraction. Is that a concern, or is the move far enough in advance to leave me enough time to re-focus, especially given my earlier start date?
TL;DR. Taking the bar on October 5th & 6th. Starting a new lease on August 1st but have the opportunity to stay at my current spot until after the bar. Re-starting studying 13 weeks before bar, after having already completed 14% of course.

That's PLENTY of time - you have 2+ months in between moving and the bar. I (and several people I know) moved to a new place on July 1 while studying for the July 30/31 bar. It was actually nice to be able to take study breaks to decorate the new place instead of taking breaks to sit on the couch like a zombie. My answer would be different if the place you were moving to was much smaller/had no study space/you've never lived with your SO before and it would be too distracting to try that out while studying

Hmm okay, thank you for the response! We have a desk that I would be able to study in and the new place is a good sized (for DC) apartment building. Have never lived full-time with my SO before, but have spent considerable time living together before (1+ month, and a few 1-3 week stretches). Think we should be ok. Does that change your answer at all?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 1:26 pmThat's PLENTY of time - you have 2+ months in between moving and the bar.
