Hi everyone,
Im a foreign qualified attorney and I just need help with the NYLC. I just found out that I passed the NYC exam (3rd attempt). I first sat for the exam in J18;F19 and this passed Feb 2020. I’m trying to understand the filing requirements- am I still within the time frame?
Thank you

Re: NYLC help
I'm going to assume that by "passed the NYC exam" you mean you passed the NY bar exam (i.e., the Uniform Bar Exam, or the UBE). There's no such thing as the "NYC exam".
I'm also going to assume you previously took the NYLC (the New York Law Course) and passed the NYLE (the New York Law Exam, a short multiple-choice exam administered online via Examplify).
Whether you need to repeat the NYLC and the NYLE depends on when you completed the NYLC. Per the NY Board of Law Examiners:
(Note that the NY BOLE is very strict about the one-year rule. If, say, you completed the NYLC on July 20, 2017, but the July 2018 NY bar exam was administered on July 24-25, 2018, then your NYLC and NYLE have expired and you'll need to retake both.)

So, as long as you completed the NYLC less than one year before July 2018, you should be fine. Otherwise, you'll need to retake both the NYLC and the NYLE.NY BOLE wrote:An applicant may complete the NYLC up to one year before or any time after the date on which the applicant first sits for the UBE

Re: NYLC help
Hey. I am in the same situation and I've a question. I passed the February 2020 NY Bar Exam and I had passed the NYLE more the one year before (June 15, 2017 expiring on June 15, 2020). Am I able to apply for the June 2020 NYLE? Or do I have to wait for the expiration of my previous June 2017 NYLE. Apparently, I am not able to access to the NY Law Courses and, consequently, not able to register for the NYLE. Do you have any feedback/help on that? Thanks in advance

Your June 2017 NYLE score expired by June 2018. It expired long ago.msg wrote:Hey. I am in the same situation and I've a question. Re: NYLC help
Thanks but my question is: do I have to wait until the September 2020 session of NYLE or can I take again the NYLE in the June 2020 session already ? I am asking because, apparently, I am not able to register for the June 2020 session until my old June 2017 NYLE has formally expired. Can you help me on that? Many thanks
