I am flying to neighboring state for the bar exam. My flight got cancelled on account of local weather conditions. I was able to rebook on a later flight in the evening (though I think I may be an overbooked passenger, but not standby), but there's still question as to if it will also be cancelled.
I saw several other bar takers studying at the gate while waiting for my first flight. There was another flight shortly after the cancelled one which I think most of the bar takers rebooked (subsequent flight had long standby, was departing from same gate + most bartakers stayed put, etc). This second flight was also cancelled shortly thereafter.
Just wondering what's going to happen to these folks if they're unable to rebook a flight in time, or if my evening flight also gets cancelled. Anyone experienced or seen something similar happen? Is our absence "excused?"

Re: Flight cancelled!
Happened to a friend of mine a few years ago. Flight from dc to NY for the NY bar was cancelled. Had to rent a car and drive. Got to the hotel around 3-4am if I remember correctly and only got a few hours sleep before the bar.
She still passed. Honestly if the weather is bad your best bet is probably get a rental car (if you don’t have a car at the airport) and start driving.

If you're in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic region, I would check Amtrak. It might be expensive, but I am sure there will be a seat available and it probably will be on time.
Driving works too, especially if you find some fellow takers in a bind. You can split costs and driving duties.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, driving long distances is out of the question because medical reasons, unless someone drives me. I had originally intended to drive but decided not to a couple of weeks ago on doctor's recommendation.
I looked up bus times but can't find any routes that would get me there before start of exam (it's 10-12 hour long trips), let alone enough time to check in at the hotel. I'll look up trains as contingency since the airline just notified us of a 30 min delay.
Oh well, I'm going to see what reasonable options are available, but I've decided not to entertain options that pose real risks by trying to drive or stay up all night. Hopefully the board will understand if I don't happen to make it.

You might also want to try calling the board to see if they can schedule you at another location (if an alternative location would be easier for you to get to).ku1185 wrote:Thanks for the input.
