Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
What can I do to improve my scores between each PQ? I have been either staying the same or getting worse (have not gotten over 60% in property or contracts) and its so frustrating and scary. I have been reviewing each question and reading the outline and it does not seem to help. Could really use some advice.

Don't be worried. It's early. I only ever scored up to like 4/6 on my scored essays, even by the end of the course. Ended up in the 89th percentile on MEE/MPT day. Just IRAC. that's really all the graders want. And I get the impression that Themis graders are harder than actual graders (in New York at least).Lawworld19 wrote:What state is the above poster stating? And yes, I got a 2 on the contracts test. Very much worried.

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
I had the exact same issue and I spent most of my 4 study months worrying about this. My grades rarely improved and I only ever scored up to like 68%. Meanwhile all these other bastards on the forums were hitting like 75% or more. But I ended up in the 85th percentile on MBE day, so it was lots of worrying for nothing.sg1226 wrote:What can I do to improve my scores between each PQ? Anyway, what I did is I would always ensure to understand why I got questions wrong (or why I got them right if it was a fluke!). But more than that, I would always write down the rule that I had failed to understand, or which I got wrong. By the end of the course, I had written down hundreds of rules (split into their respective subjects in my notes). I would review those rules with the rest of my notes. Further, the mere act of writing down new rules helps you to memorize and understand them. Now, you'll never succeed in writing down ALL the rules (there's obviously too many) but you'll eventually stop making the same mistake twice, and you'll eventually build up a sufficient understanding to pass the MBE.
So don't worry. Just stay the course. So long as you're learning from your mistakes and have a system to prevent you from making the same mistake more than once, you'll be good. just don't expect to get better automatically. Also it's early days so you've got time to improve your score.
Good luck!

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
I had CP flashcards and I agree, at first they were overwhelming and I was like, there's no way I can remember all of this stuff. They're not so much flash cards that quickly jog your memory as they are just regular notes split into cards.BlueLaw11 wrote:Yeah that's been my experience with them, kinda frustrating. Is Adaptibar a better experience in your opinion?thisiswater wrote:
I have the critical pass cards but i could't figure out how to use them as flashcards. They had too much info on each one for me read the question, say my answer and then flip and check if I was right or not. They aren't a bad cheatsheet/attack outline though
However, by the end of the course I found myself understanding most things pretty well, and all I needed to do was glance at the cards, their titles, the headings, to recognise and know the underlying rules. So in other words, as you understand more and more, you can treat them like flashcards by just skimming them and not reading the whole thing. And then, if you do forget something, it's right there and you don't have to refer to your separate notes.
I found the CP cards helpful ultimately. I would review them before bed and while travelling, and you kinda just learn to use them however you want. Either read them in detail if you need to learn, or just skim if you want to use them as memory aids.
I never tried adaptibar so can't speak to those.

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
So I started by doing flex study and have switched to directed and I just was curious as to what percentage people are at/approximately where people are percentage-wise. I was initially doing flex study because I missed passing in February because of the mpt's so I figured it didn't matter what order I did the topics in and thus initially was doing the 7 MBE topics because they are game for essays and multiple choice, but then I realized that in doing so, I would not be prepared to take the practice exams later on and thus miss some important dates that can show me how I am doing. I would really appreciate it because it is hard to measure whether I am behind and if so by how much, and flex study also means I can't really tell by the themis schedule until I am caught up assignment-wise.

Every state is different but I know in Tx we were sent a note last friday that said we should be at 18-20% by the end of the weekend. I am currently at 13.4%, hoping for 15% by the end of the day so obvs. significantly behind but working on it

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
Hmm, I checked my e-mail...maybe UBE state examinees don't get those messages? But thanks and I guess I was stressing for nothing; in theory, if I stick to directed from here on out and I am in the right percentage range - I am just ending for the day and got to 18.7 - I think I should be on track for the practice exams after tomorrow or Friday at the latest, thisiswater wrote:Every state is different but I know in Tx we were sent a note last friday that said we should be at 18-20% by the end of the weekend. Yep, full-time for me. I will probably need to take off anywhere from 6-8 days between now and the bar, but otherwise, 100% of my time can go toward studying. If I can convince myself to do close to 2% per day I should be close to finishing the course.Neilt001 wrote:You my friend are gonna have your work cut out for you, unless you're studying full-time in which case you're golden.MoonSugar wrote:Just gonna chill over here with my 10% lol (I started last Monday and had to take this past weekend off so I'm a little behind).RareExports wrote:I think you should be around 15-25% at this point.
