All out-of-state candidates are sworn-in to the Third Department; due to traveling, the interview for the out-of-state candidates are typically done on the same day as the swear-in. In your situation, I’m guessing you live in the area, it wouldn’t be an inconvenience to have you interviewed on a day prior to the swear-in, possibly due to high volume already scheduled for January 18th. If you are from out-of-state, I would expect that if there is an issue they will contact you about it prior to the interview.

According to DHL, Third Department received my notice of certification on 13 Dec...any chance I'd still make it in time for the January interview? :(

I'm not 100% certain, but I recall seeing something on the website that all material must be received by December 8th in order to be considered for the January 18th swear-in.
