NY doesn't have bar number -- your 'name' is your 'bar number'

What? That's not true at all. NY has a 7 digit registration number for attorneys.

If you use the search link above and try searching for an attorney you know in NY their registration number will show up too.

NY attorney. I've seen filings from other jurisdictions where attorneys list their registration number. Some attorneys that also practice out of state will add their registration number to stuff they file in NY. But NY doesn't require it.

It's all in the name of things. They technically don't call it a "bar number" and specifically state NY doesn't have a bar number but you use your registration number for everything.

I don't even think I got something in the mail with my number. I looked it up online like a couple of weeks after I got sworn in.

Congrats!
