What C&F Issues?

Post by blaze1306 » Wed Aug 17, 2016 11:57 am

I anticipate having to do a C&F interview next week due to debt. I know this is a personal issue but what are some of the issues people are having to interview for?

I'd also be interested to know what issues have caused complications for applicants.

Can I ask what your debt-related issue is (in general terms)?

Bad credit and an enormous amount of student loan debt.

debt alone will not hurt you; missing payments will.

I have disclosed a lot of missed payments. I anticipate a C&F for these missed payments but I do have explanations (disabled spouse, lost job, move across country to make half of what I was making, etc). I know I cant be the only person in this boat. I'd like to know how others have handled it. I not proud of it, but it is what it is. I am willing to explain the situation to the board. I can only they would accept that sometimes you cant help being broke.

I read that New Mexico is pretty favorable for people with debt issues and is willing to offer conditional admission for people with more egregious debt issues (you are sworn in and allowed to practice, no one but the bar knows it's conditional, and you are on probation with them for a specified amount of time while you get your shit together and prove you can get your finances on track).
Really...I didn't know that. I am just assuming I will get called in for the C&F interview because my finances are not squeaky clean. I hope you are right and I don't have to go at all. If I do, and you are correct maybe I can still be admitted. Assuming I pass the STUPID bar.

Actually, after reading the last two emails I got from the bar, it's my understanding that if you were going to be invited for an interview, you would've heard from them two weeks ago. The first c&f email sent to everyone in the beginning of August said that examinees would be contacted within a week with updates, requests for more info, and requests for interviews. Then the second email was individualized, and mine just said that my file is complete. I feel like people who are going to need to appear for an interview in a week have already been contacted, but I can't confirm this because I dont know any of those people.

I hope your right. I went back and looked at my emails, and I had to send an update to question 26 and do my fingerprints. I got the impression that since C&F is not until August 27th they would give us a weeks notice so I have been checking my email every minute expecting an invitation to a C&F interview.

The New Mexico C&F weekend is over and I didn't get called in. I was certain I would, but I'm happy it was something else I didn't have to worry about....now waiting for these stupid bar results!
