How burned out are you?

Post by whitecollar23 » Mon Jul 18, 2016 7:29 pm

I'm like a 9 on a scale of 1-10. I could do MBE questions fine and write essays without going crazy, but when it comes to reviewing MBEs or studying the law, I just lack motivation. Though, with same MEE topics, I'm forcing myself to get them down, because, well, it's probably going to be tested.

Well, how burned out are you?!

Yeah, it's tough in the last week to keep going. What I would say, though, is if you are doing MBE questions (or essays), doing them under timed conditions helps.

Everyone who's taking the exam should get off the internet. Looking at the internet wastes valuable time and exacerbates anxiety. You want to remain focused and tune out distractions.

I too second doing MBE questions under timed conditions.

You should go, my mom dragged me out to lunch in my last week of studying and I was surprised at how much easier it was to study afterwards.

This inspires me to go to the gym one night this week. Get that power charge I need to make it through next Wednesday.

I think that is a great idea. The gym helped me out a lot....just a lot. People tend to forget the mental health aspect of taking the bar exam, but its real and getting those endorphins going and the energy level up is so much better.

Yup. I just hope I'm not sore 5 days later, haha. And that effects of the gym are still circulating my veins at that point. Who knows, maybe I'll go once over the weekend, too. Doubt it, though. =/

You should at least take a half day break. Burnout sucks, and you won't fall behind by foregoing several hours of study time.

Literally the most burned out possible. Haven't been able to get anything done for a couple hours. I just can't.

take.a.break

Do something that will refresh and revitalize you. Go out to lunch with someone, get a massage, do yoga, go golf, if you're in GA, go to a Waffle House or a Sticky Fingers.

I think you'll find that afterwards you'll be better able to study and focus.

I like your style.

I feel like there's a huge misconception that if we stop studying or take it easy the next few days, we'll somehow forget everything and the hundreds of hours of ridiculously hard work we put in over the summer will have been in vain. In reality, the benefits of taking the bar exam with a fully rested brain dwarf any benefit we might get from cramming for the next few days. But that's just me.

Thoughts on taking the rest of today off and then studying a half-day tomorrow vs. studying the rest of today and then taking all day off tomorrow?
