Barbri's MBE Refresher

Post by blueapple08 » Sat Jul 16, 2016 4:35 pm

Anyone know what score we were expected to get? Or what the overall average was?

I did well on the simulated MBE, but this "refresher" was brutal. I'm pretty much done with the MBE - diminishing returns at this point.

I was the opposite - did JUST average on simulated, but better than target in every category on refresher (still not great, but better than I've done on earlier practice sets, etc.), which actually makes me anxious -- it seems like consensus is that the refresher was bullshit and probably not all that helpful in determining if you know what you're talking about.

where are these targets?
At the front of the MBQ Book, pages "iii-v."

MBE Refresher Goal: 56/100
each sub-topic goal is 8/14

That target almost makes me feel a little better about my 54, noticeably less than I've been scoring lately. Most subjects I usually do well on I did poorly on here, but my weakest subjects got some high scores.

Also, WTF with the refresher videos? The first one refers to the refresher intro, but I didn't see that on the plan or on youtube.

Are these review videos supposed to come with their own special outlines, or are we supposed to write this stuff down when they start talking about roman numerals? It doesn't match the CMR, MBE outlines, other handouts, etc. The handouts provided are just the same questions per subject, just like in the 50-question tests.

I honestly hate how they are still teaching us very minute exceptions. I would think the refresher exam would be like something that mimics the difficulty of the actual exam. Something to gauge where we are at. I did fine but as I was watching the videos I was getting super fkn pissed. There was this property question that had a correct answer that had to do with the fuckin 1st Amendment free exercise clause. I got it correct for some totally unrelated incorrect reason.

Yea, I am doing it now, so idk how I did, but fuck Barbri for giving us a 100 question set with a 56% target a week before the fucking bar.

Haven't been here since 0L. A bit weird and nostalgic. Anyway, I was planning on doing the refresher tomorrow, but after thinking it over--not sure. Obviously shaky at best at this point, like everyone else, and just trying to preserve whatever shred of confidence I have left. I feel like doing poorly on these questions (which I'm sure are likely super nuanced questions, in true Barbri fashion) might get to my head too much. Do you think the refresher helped more than it hurt?

I think if you go into the mindset that around 20 questions are bullshit (like you won't know the exception), its good practice. A lot of the questions are fine. Just know that most people do shitty on it because it was designed that way.

I've definitely learnt a few rules i didn't know - if even one or two come up next week, it's worth it IMO

Glad I'm not the only one that felt the same way. They tested the most obscure rules that weren't even covered in most of the lectures. I kept scrambling looking through the notes to see why I hadn't heard of these random exceptions before. Honestly just made me feel more anxious being reminded of how much we are expected to know and how Barbri left the last week to remind us of this.

i found the refresher helpful. My score was essentially the same as the Simulated MBE.

I watched the refresher for the subjects I scored lowest on, and if I have time later I'll watch the rest. It was reasonably helpful in explaining some of the issues I had difficulty with, and the lecturer gave a few test taking tips that I found a bit helpful.

Anyone also notice how your personal study plan was supposed to change or adapt based on your MBE refresher performance? Has anyone actually had anything different added or changed in their plan? Mine didn't change at all, even though i clearly need some help in certain topics.
