MEE essay style vs. California essay style

Post by Metal_Inquisition » Sun Jun 26, 2016 1:36 am

Hey all,

I took the CA bar exam last February and I am currently studying to take the WA bar exam. I am having trouble switching over from one essay style to another. I don't know if its all in my head, or if there really is a difference between CA essays and MEE essays.

I feel like for CA, the questions were pretty open-ended, which turned the essays into issue-spotting as many issues as possible, which the MEE is pretty specific about what you are supposed to be talking about. I keep finding myself writing about issues that were not relevant because I'm trying to be creative and spot as many issues as possible. Also, I feel like in WA, its all about CIRAC, where CA wasn't so strict about including sentences like "This issue is....whether..." Am I psyching myself out here? Any advice? Thanks in advance!
