Thanks, I just got out of doing some bar prep so my brain is kind of fried and I know the July 15 deadline is tomorrowsublime wrote:I don't believe so, I think the school certification took care of that part.Br3v wrote:This is really neurotic, I apologize in advance.
If we got the "All required documents have been reviewed and approved. You are now eligible to sit for the July 2016 bar examination" email, is there any other documents I need to be sure I submit? I ask because although I had my school fill out the form saying I had X passing credits/etc, I never gave the bar my diploma (we just got them conferred this week).
In short, do I need to give the NY bar proof of my diploma?

Yeah, if you had the "you meet educational req's to sit" thing when you selected your location, you should be good to go.
What feels really weird is that we don't do any C&F stuff until after we pass. Like, are they gonna be like "lol nvrmind"? And it's probably going to be terrible doing that stuff while trying to settle into a new job.

Start sending out your forms now!! Employers take forever to fill that stuff out. I compiled all my info on the form (although didn't send) and started sending the law-related employment verification forms out. The forms are available at: http://www.nybarexam.org/Admission/Apri ... 202015.pdfMlk&Ckies wrote:Yeah, if you had the "you meet educational req's to sit" thing when you selected your location, you should be good to go.

Some of my friends from previous years have had trouble with employers holding up the process, so just get them out and hold on to them until it's time to submit!

I started late so I have been working on catching up so I haven't done any yet, but yes, I plan on completing the personal homework at some point.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm 5 days behind on an abbreviated schedule. I'm just starting to suspect I'm never actually gonna catch upsublime wrote:HankBashir wrote:For those doing Barbri, are y'all doing the personal homework they assign?

Idk, if I just worked for one or two days straight, I would probably be caught up. That was supposed to be today, but I think I fell further behind since all I did was watch a lecture and am like half through the Trusts accessment.
Also, it isn't very motivating when I am still ahead of average progress, although I kind of wish they had a median progress bar.
I may have to take a TLS self ban, honestly.

My problem is that I'm on a 8 week program, so that some things (Like Crim Law and Crim Pro lectures) are the same day for me, so even with devoting whole days to studying, I don't change the fact that I'm always 5 days behind, smh. *shrug* fuck itsublime wrote:HankBashir wrote:I'm in a similar situation. I would be SO happy if Trusts doesn't end up on the MEE. I am in the struggle bubble for sure. Wills I got. Not so much the Trusts. From what I understand, it is tested often though.Mel31 wrote:Hi all ! Hope you are surviving the bar prep..

And we have a ton of time! "Section 520.12(d)(1) of the Rules of the New York State Court of Appeals for the Admission of Attorneys and Counselors at Law requires applicants to file the complete application for admission with the Supreme Court, Appellate Division within three (3) years from the date when the applicant sat for the second day of the Uniform Bar Examination, whether taken in New York or in another jurisdiction."Mlk&Ckies wrote:Yeah, if you had the "you meet educational req's to sit" thing when you selected your location, you should be good to go.

From what I understand, most firms will call you a "Law Clerk" until you get C&F done. I know of at least one associate who knew he was going to transfer to the firm's Chi office within a year or so. He never finished C&F stuff. He's doing just fine working in IL now.sublime wrote:imnottelling wrote:And we have a ton of time! Anyone else getting their ass kicked by real property MBE questions in Barbri? I got an A in 1L property but it was nothing like this. Got 6/18 correct on the latest set.

Yeah—crushed the first set, but performed absolutely dismally on the second set. Haven't gotten to the third set yet (behind schedule). I'm just accepting that real property won't be my winning subject area.generaltoast wrote:Anyone else getting their ass kicked by real property MBE questions in Barbri? Edit: Oops, I'm doing Themis, not Barbri. Sentiment remains the same, though.

Yeah same, but bounced back with 12 on the next. I think for whatever reason that set was just a nightmare that you just gotta shake off.generaltoast wrote:Anyone else getting their ass kicked by real property MBE questions in Barbri? 12 of 18 on Set 2. I heard Set 3 is a bitch. I'm saving it for this weekend.WahooLaw24 wrote:Yeah same, but bounced back with 12 on the next. I'm really confused by BarBri's "goals." I've gotten 10/18 on the last two property sets, which really has me worried, but they've set the "goal" at 9/18. At the same time, the consensus seems to be that you need to be getting ~65% of the MBE questions right to be on track to pass (please correct this if I'm wrong), so I'm not sure if the low goals are in response to BarBri's acknowledging that they're using the pickiest questions possible for property or what. Does anyone have an idea how these "goals" relate to the performance we need on test day?

Re: NY July 2016 Thread
Hi guys,
Sorry if this has been asked before. Don't have time to go through all the pages of this thread to look for an answer!
Are most of you taking the NYLE in August? Would the October exam be too late to be sworn in if you pass the July 2016 bar? I am not sure how to fit in 15 hours of lectures before the registration deadline next month for the August exam. So I am wondering if I should postpone the NYLE until October? What is everyone else doing?? If the October exam is too late to be sworn in, then I will have to find time to listen to the lectures!
Thanks!

I just did it this week. I let the NY lectures run on a different browser on mute while listening to my bar prep lectures, then come back to it to answer the question at the end of each segment. Ctrl+F the outline for the answers to the questions. It's not a useful method for learning, but I'll study a bit after the bar exam.ChocolateTruffle wrote:Hi guys,

Thank you. I tried doing that with a lecture, and once the lecture was over, it took me back to the main page without presenting me with a question and it didn't track my progress! I used a Safari browser. Do you mind if I ask which browser you used? I hope it was just a matter of not choosing the right browser. I want to be able to do what you did!bwh8813 wrote:I just did it this week. It's super simple. I'd just do it in August if you can. If your firm doesn't care if you take it in October, I'm pretty sure that leaves you more than enough time. You get your NYLE score after about two weeks. If you take it in October, you'll probably get your NYLE score before we even know if we passed the bar.

I had the NYLE running in Safari and the bar stuff in Firefox. I never had a problem in Safari. I actually had issues with the NYLE in Firefox because even if I had nothing else opened and had logged off and quit the browser, it would tell me that I couldn't login to NYLE because I was already logged in in another browser (which I wasn't).ChocolateTruffle wrote:Thank you. Care to elaborate? Are you saying because the exam is so easy? I went to law school outside of NY so was not taught any NY-specific law. I know it's open book, but I can't look up (or Ctrl+F) 100 questions on a 120 minute exam. I'm not talking spending days on end studying, but at least becoming somewhat acquainted with the outline.MCFC wrote:This would be a tremendous waste of your time.bwh8813 wrote:
