Not necessarily. First, there is a uniform grading rubric provided by NCBE. This may help limit inherent discrepancies with the NY exam and the need to collaborate to hash them out. Second, because there are more essays (6) and more MPTs (2), it may actually streamline the grading process. Think of it like a production line. They have eight groups each assigned to one essay. Because there are more essays but the same amount of time, each essay is shorter. Although it's only 6 minutes fewer for each essay, that's probably a page of writing. Spread out over 60,000 essays (10,000 takers x 6 essays), that's significantly less to review.rkreymer wrote:I'm just curious as to why today is the day? Today is almost a week earlier than last year..... Wouldn't it take longer because its UBE and not the other way around?
The UBE is not new. Prior to NY, some 19 or 20 states had implemented its grading. Being late to adopt likely helps because the kinks have been taken care of already.
