Bored out of my mind right now trying not to think about it. Good coping mechanisms? I think my state still has a good 2-3 weeks.

Everyone in my office knows I took a second bar exam and people keep asking me about it. If I fail it's going to be majorly humiliating.

I'm in the same boat. It's going to be a rough two weeks. Distractions are required...

same here. there so much office drama at work i've actually have not been thinking about it. except today...someone asked. i failed in july and i was humiliated. everyone was supportive, but of course i know deep down people were asking themselves why did i fail? am i not as smart as they thought I was? maybe i'm not meant to be a lawyer. this time, i really don't care. whatever. i'll just quit, find another job after the july exam. (haha thinks me...who will pay my bills...but i really think i'd quit before they fire me)crumpetsandtea wrote:Everyone in my office knows I took a second bar exam and people keep asking me about it. What state are you in that you find out in 2 weeks? For CA we have to wait until May 13. If have to repeat in July, have until May 31 to register for test (to avoid a late penalty). In addition, have to arrange for another set of Barbri books and will likely begin the class almost immediately. If wanted to be proactive and start studying earlier, would be doing so without even knowing the results. Talk about limbo.iowalum wrote:Bored out of my mind right now trying not to think about it. Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Just saw this thread and wanted to offer some words of encouragement. In my career I've sat for the bar exam three different times (twice in NY and once in CA). Although I failed once and passed twice, how I felt after the exam was always the same. I always felt like I failed.
The bar exam is a weird test. No matter how good or how bad you did, you always feel like crap at the end. That's because it's designed to F you up--there's just too much material and not enough time. There's just no way to know--based on your own feelings afterwards--whether you passed or not. (This makes it very, very different than other exams like the LSAT.)
Paradoxically, the time I felt most confident (relatively speaking anyways) following the test was the time I failed. I think it's because when you haven't mastered the material, it's easy to be overconfident. The more you know, the more you're able to remember things you may have missed, which makes you depressed afterwards.
I guess what I'm saying is--don't let your anxiety about failing get to you. It's completely natural. If you studied right and nothing went wrong during exam day, chances are you passed. The best way to tell if you're just being crazy about it is to ask the people close to you what they think. The last time I took the exam, my wife kept telling me "I don't know why you're so worried. I have no doubt that you passed." And of course she was right. Sometimes your loved ones have more perspective than you, even though they may not have any legal expertise.

I'm in Indiana. Two weeks isn't a guarantee, just guessing either the 1st or 2nd Friday in April based on July results. Really not enjoying the wait this time.AspiringCALawyer wrote:What state are you in that you find out in 2 weeks? For CA we have to wait until May 13. When you think about it, this is an unacceptably long time. I don't mean this administration of the test, but in general.

It's torture. Each day is taking longer than the last to pass. Ugggh!nyfailedjuly2015 wrote:When you think about it, this is an unacceptably long time. I don't mean this administration of the test, but in general.

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
I felt like I had failed the July exam and I was right. I kept saying that I thought I failed. This time I was relaxed and more confident. I actually read each question. I left the exam feeling confused, but not like I had failed. One of my friends who had passed last year told me that she knew she had passed. And she did. I don't think you can know how you did based on whether you feel that you failed or passed. I only missed july by 1.9 points. I got robbed.

I don't know if this is a "good" coping mechanism but it helps me. I just let my crazy out and spend however long I need to looking up things like "how to tell if you failed the bar exam" lol. I have literally read everything about exams, pass rates, theories on low feb pass rates etc. Somehow I feel better after getting it out of my system...for the time being. Otherwise, I just try to stay occupied. It also helps that I only told a few people I even wrote the thing this time around so I don't get too many questions about it. The people who know I wrote it know not to ask me until I bring it up.

Good strategy, I tried not to tell people but then a friend wished me luck on Facebook >.< ......
I'm just glad I don't have to wait as long as some of you. I've already taken up like 3 new hobbies to take my mind off it. And enjoying my job while I can in case things go badly.

Question to repeaters or those who have passed already: I heard that for the MBE section, repeaters end up receiving similar score or improve but generally the points do not decrease. Does this sound like the general pattern?

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Sounds about right to me. I jumped 20+ points between my first and second times in NY, and believe me, I thought I did worse the second time. (The third time CA didn't release my score but I know it was close to my second NY score.)Sam0406 wrote:Question to repeaters or those who have passed already: I heard that for the MBE section, repeaters end up receiving similar score or improve but generally the points do not decrease. I think I need to start ignoring this site. I won't get my results for another 38 days... knowing that people will start getting their results soon will just drive me crazy.

Off the top of my head I know Oregon, North Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania are in the first 2 weeks of April generally, I doubt anyone is earlier. Sorry to those waiting until May :-/stranlaw wrote:What states report first? I'm dying to see results. Hoping for the best for all of us!

I really despise the California bar. 2 and half months of waiting is just way too long. If they take this long to get the results, they should at least institute better graders.

Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
not gonna lie I check TLS once a day hoping someone has received results!! Also, anyone else having dreams about it every night? I keep having dreams that my state decided they wanted to be known for their quickest decisions and beat out NC so I received my results in the mail first....ha!
I have until middle to end of April ish. My state usually takes 7 weeks and my birthday is April 15th so I'm hoping they'll be here by my birthday!
My high school graduating class of 2007 decided to create a Facebook group this past week. I think because we have a 10 year reunion coming up next year. (Kill me now, right?) I graduated in a class of 450 people, so not too many people, but still enough that I don't know who the hell a bunch of the people are. Anyways, someone wrote on there yesterday "So what's everyone doing for careers?" and at least 100 or so people have responded. (Which by the way, "farm wife" and "making babies" have been my favorite responses I've seen so far.) I thought about writing "lawyer waiting to be licensed as attorney" and then what firm I'm working at...but then I got this sick feeling of bad ju ju and didn't want to jinx it. I immediately ex'd out of the window and haven't looked at the thread again.
Will I ever be normal again?

Texas here. We still have a month. Waiting for the results to trickle out because I'm so curious to see how we all did on the MBE this go-around

The waiting is killing me. I have no idea how I did. Failed in July by 7 points...how close were others? ...is that close? It felt close, but now I'm worried I didn't do well enough in Feb! I had 131.something on both MBE and Essays...
Started a new job in a new state (moved my family) and had to tell them I failed in October. I get nauseous thinking that I may have to tell them I failed AGAIN.

I failed in July by 3 points.
I think 7 points is close.
Although I've never personally heard anyone failing by more than 15 points. I feel like it's always close.
