Did you take an NCBE Online Practice Exam?

Post by StaceyS » Thu Jan 28, 2016 3:25 am

If so, how did you do?

I'm especially interested in hearing if anyone used the Online Practice Exams and took the bar. How did your scores compare?

I am very nervous about the bar. It's been years since I graduated law school and I feel like there is so much I don't remember...and so much that has changed that it's possible that they legalized murder and I don't know it.

Here are my results...I did so much better than the BarBri questions that I'm scared that these scores are a fluke. I don't want any false sense of security.

NCBE OPE #1:
88/100 raw
175 scaled

NCBE OPE #2:
84/100 raw
171 scaled

I'd love anyone's thoughts on this.

Thanks,
Stacey :)

Obviously you seem to be doing fine. How did you do on Barbri? I was putting up 65-67% on BarBri practice exams and then landed a 161 scaled in July.

For more examples, see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

Thanks for the reply BVest :)

I'm around 65-70 on BarBri usually. Sometimes I get smoked though and do bad on a practice exam and get freaked out.

You did amazing! If I got a 161 I would die from happiness. Lol!

I go from thinking I'm going to pass one day to being convinced I'm going to fail the next. I've never been so stressed.

Somebody hold me.

Those scores are amazing. I got 70/100 on NCBE OPE #4 and I was ecstatic.

Out of curiosity, do the OPEs include civ pro?

Not sure why you are stressing. Those are awesome scores and you seem on pace to not only pass but score very well.

I'm probably gonna take OPE 4 next week sometime.

DueProcessDoWheelies...I haven't done 3 or 4 yet. Thanks for the info. I think you should be ecstatic...curved that could translate to like a 150 or better don't you think? They say that is autopass range...if there is such a thing!

BVest...No… The 4 OPE's do not include CivPro. But you can download for free CivPro sample questions on the NCBE website.

I tried those and got destroyed. CivPro is my worst topic. Which is another reason that I don't think I can entirely count on my OPE scores.

Uggggh. I wish I had a crystal ball to see if I was going to pass or fail this thing.

Thank you The_U.

My biggest worry is really the essay portion. My brain isn't as fast as it used to be. And it is seems so much harder to pull rules out of my brain. I'm really worried I could get a good multistate score and still bomb the essays and fail.

Yeah, the essays suck.

My trick for essays over the summer was to read as many model answers as I could (rather than writing out full answers). Really helped to filter out what I needed to memorize and what I didn't.

How does your state weigh the MBE? 50%?

How did you do on the essays? I think I will try that. I've been primarily focused on the MBE and I've been neglecting essays. So I'm going to do that.

I'm in Kansas and for the first time ever they are giving the UBE in February. So 50% MBE, 30% essay, 20% MPT

What state are you in?

I'm in Florida. I passed the essays comfortably but my MBE wasn't high enough for me to pass overall.

Since you are in a 50% state, you might want to check this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... p?t=210339

You can basically auto-pass if your MBE is strong, which doesn't seem unrealistic given how well you are scoring on practice tests.
