Critical Pass physical flash cards vs their app - thoughts?

Post by doubltall » Mon Jan 11, 2016 7:44 pm

I'm strongly considering Critical Pass, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the app?

I think I might like tangible flash cards, but the app's half the price. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could transcribe them onto flash cards of my own, hmm.

On a related note, if anyone wants to sell me some gently used CP flash cards for ~50 plus shipping, feel free to contact me (:

I have some critical pass flashcards but they have some writing on them with NY distinctions but otherwise great condition and could obv still be used for MBE study.

Willing to sell for that price, PM me if interested.

I don't know anything about the app. The "flashcards" are not actually flashcards as I understand the concept. They're large cards with whole sections of what is basically Barbri's CMR outline printed on them. You'd definitely get more out of making your own set.

I agree with Rinkrat. Critical Pass couldn't copy the CMR verbatim, so there's strange re-phrasing going on. I used mine only for torts. The app contains the same material.

I bought the app because it was cheaper. I normally hate online study aids but find the app useful. It's obviously easy to carry around (I've heard the actual cards are pretty large) and you have all subjects at your fingertips. I don't rely on them heavily; I mostly use them as a refresher before bed, or if I'm on my lunch break or something. So if you plan to use them as a primary study aid, the actual cards may be better since you can write notes on them (you can add notes in the app too but it's just not the same).

FYI, if you have Barbri, you have the Barbri mobile app, which has the CMR in it.

I think it's unlikely that you could transcribe all the CP flashcards by hand. There's a lot of material there and it would be a very time consuming process, better spent practicing MBE questions or writing essays. I got the physical flashcards and I was able to highlight and annotate them. If you're interested in interacting with the material like that, I would get the flashcards over the app; however, if you're not big into highlighting/annotating, save the money and get the app. Here's a referral link with a $10 discount for the cards: http://criticalpass.refr.cc/6CV5GXR

I actually bought some from someone via PM, and you're definitely correct haha...no way one could (or should) transcribe them. Had no idea how many cards would be in each pack, it's pretty intimidating, to be honest!
