Best way(s) to use Critical Pass flashcards Forum

I just received my Critical Pass flashcards in the mail. I failed the July bar and just registered for the February one. I've heard raving reviews for Critical Pass, and I've glanced over them a little already and they look great.

But my question is- what are some good ways to utilize these? I know they are meant to supplement another bar study program (I'm using Barbri), but not much else. I feel like it would be a counter-productive to just burn through a subject in a day. Would they be good to look over before a day of prep? After?

Just looking for some pointers, really.

They seem like they're just the CMR copied and pasted onto flash cards, so I'd say that any time you were going to read the CMR, you could sub the CP cards in for that.

I used critical pass for the GA bar. The first time I went through a subject, I marked the cards that gave me the most trouble for later review. I made notes on the side (pneumonic devices, examples of fact patterns from practice questions, and other hints to help me learn). I studied my trouble cards more than the others. Towards the end, I read through all the cards a few times as a refresher. Good luck on the February exam.

I studied for the Oregon bar this summer while working an average of about 30 hours per week. I found that the Critical Pass flashcards were great to review during down time at the office, lunch, etc. I was really stressed that work was not only cutting into too much study time, but also taking energy away that diminished the effectiveness of the study time I had. The flashcards acted as a security blanket to curtail some of that stress because I could access them on my phone and review a subject I was worrying about in 5-10 minutes.

Would it be excessive at all to also get Adaptibar? I've been thinking hard about doing that because my MBE score was pretty bad in July. I already have Critical pass and my friend is letting me have her Emanuel's book. I also have access to the Barbri questions, but as many of us know, the Barbri questions aren't that similar to the real thing.

Would it be too much to get Adaptibar? I really want to but it is expensive...

No, get Adaptibar is you can afford it; the cheaper alternative would be Bar Max (https://getbarmax.com/barmax-mbe-questions/) for MBE questions.

For the Texas 2014 bar exam, I relied primarily on Barbri questions and Critical Pass (link - http://criticalpass.refr.cc/WXNZSR4 with discount code for $10 off). I would go through 2-3 subject sets of the Critical Pass cards per day to drill myself on the blackletter law. Then I would do a Barbri MBE set (preferably on the sets I just went through, but sometimes I would mix it up and do a mixed subject set). However, the Barbri questions aren't like the real MBE questions; the real MBE was much harder than the Barbri questions. Barbri did an excellent job prepping me for the essays, but their MBE component is lacking. I didn't use Adaptibar/Bar Max during my bar study, but if I had to take the MBE again, I would definitely add those tools to my bar prep kit.

Go through 2-3 subject decks per day. Personalize it by adding your own notes and mnemonics. Rinse and repeat.

Adaptibar or BarMax are also good tools for the MBE as is Emanuel's MBE book.

For Themis at least (assuming all bar preps do this), they break down your subject questions by segment. (e.g for contracts you'll have subtopics like formation, damages, assignment etc.)

More often than not, you will do pretty well on some sub topics, but be awful at other sub topics. At the end of the day, i would pull the critical pass cards for that sub topic and verbally repeat them until i had them memorized cold. This generally took me from 50% in an MBE subject (my first few rounds of evidence were in the 35-40% range so don't get discouraged) to 70-75% correct.

Repetition. Repetition. Repetition. Hammer the rules into your head.

I ended up with a 162 on the MBE
