worth waiting to take UBE in NY in July 2016?

Post by synergy » Thu Nov 05, 2015 3:34 pm

I currently work in New York in compliance (employer doesn't care if bar passage). I still would like to be barred longer term but in the near-future it's not important at all. Should I just re-take the NY bar in february (I failed July) or wait til July 2016 and take the UBE? Is the UBE that much easier? I thought about taking other people's advice in the other thread and taking the UBE in another jurisdiction but it seems like an expensive hassle to do all this for February considering bar passage isn't urgent. How much easier is the UBE than the New York bar? Is 266 considered pretty easy to score?

Depends on you? If you're burnt out and it doesn't really matter then just delay. Especially if you're really good about picking a date to start studying and sticking with it. Or if you're going to keep studying just at a slower pace.

For me... if I put it off, it would just stress me having it hang over my head... and I'd feel like the longer I waited the more I'd forget and less focused I'd be when I do study. Life moves on and the further removed from the test and people the more difficult I'd find it to buckle down. Especially once I taste the freedom of not studying for a bit. I'd rather double down for a few more months and try to knock it out while I'm still more or less in school mindset.

Don't think there is really a right answer beyond one that seems best for your personality and gut feeling.
