You should seriously consider dumping someone who does that to you two days before the bar exam. If you've made any significant effort to let him know what a tough time this is for you and how high the stakes are and how much you need to focus, then he's either intentionally sabotaging you, monumentally selfish, or really dumb.

You are assuming she has explained this to him before. Not arguing for him, but we should be aware of both possibilities before crucifying anyone.

Or he's just an emotional dude who's way too clingy. I can totally see some of my friends do this to their girlfriends, they prioritize their relationships over everything else in their life. Call me callous but my career is far more important than a girlfriend, and if my girlfriend was being an obstacle to passing the bar I'd leave in a millisecond.

Yeah, I don't care if she was being unreasonable. It's incredibly inconsiderate to bring something like that up that could easily be brought up a few days later. Communication is important and all that, but that can wait.

The best thing about my new marriage right before diving into prepping for the NY bar exam was the fact that she'd done the same thing two years prior (and I did what I could to help her through it while working my summer job). Talk about the best support system in existence, and she didn't even bat an eye when I was like "trust me it's not you, but you just need to go for two weeks" (I'm the kind of person who bunkers down during study mode, and that was exponentially so during the last two weeks before the bar). She took it like a trooper even when one of "our" best friends got really judgmental about it two days before the exam (and he's taken the damn thing too, so I don't know what his problem is), and stayed with her parents.

What everyone attached to a bar-taker needs to understand is that it may seem crazy, it may be totally irrational, but just give us what we want because in our minds, that's what we need. I seriously think every future bar-taker (hopefully not myself in Feb, lol) needs is people around them who have done it. There's really no way to understand otherwise.

Having a wife who's done it before is clutch. This past weekend she had babysitters/mothers' helpers each morning while she prepared meals for the week in advance. Coming home from the exam this week we could spend a little quality family time together while dinner reheated, sit down and eat, and then I could hit the books again* while she did bath/bedime.

But the play of the game: Little one apparently woke up crying with a fever the last two nights in a row and I (sleeping in the guest room) never heard a peep nor was asked to help.

Everything I know about corporations was learned the evening before the bar exam. There was am entire essay devoted to ONLY the material I had covered. It's never too late.
