Just tell me what Raw MBE I need, already. (NY)
I know. I know. Its not possible. But will someone just freaking do the impossible and tell me what MBE I need to get in NY to be on track to pass, if I do about average on the rest of the test.
Barbri tells me if I'm getting 75% I should be set. But that seems too high.
So whats the real story????

well, it might help to think about the median MBE score, which is right around 140 scaled, meaning around 125ish out of 190 raw would make you average, and if you are actually average on the other parts, you'd pass with flying colors only getting 66% on the MBE. Seems hard as hell to figure out how good you have to be to be average on the essays though.

i've been told that 10 out of the 200 questions are trial questions and that getting 120 out of the remaining 190 is a passing score.

That's assuming you also do about average on the essays, 50 MC and MPT. I don't know how they scale essays since I've had my graded 1-10.myrtlewinston wrote:i've been told that 10 out of the 200 questions are trial questions and that getting 120 out of the remaining 190 is a passing score.

You can use this tocalculate it.
http://www.seperac.com/calc-mbe-febjuly.php
You'll notice that the scaled MBE score can vary widely (135 scaled would have been about 116 raw at one extreme and about 126 raw at the other extreme).

I took Barbri twice and they say if your raw score is 120 or more, you should be fine on real exam.

You want the highest mbe score you can get to take the pressure off other sections you may screw up in.
