Hi, I'm also using Themis Bar to prepare for the Feb 2015 California bar. I've taken the Bar twice already (aargh!) though was studying on my own. I'm hoping the third time will be the charm. I'm really tired of this hanging over my head.

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - February 2015 Exam
Using Themis, again, after failing the bar by TWO points
The MBE did it.
This time around I'm skipping all of the lectures - they were such a fucking waste of my time - and completing all of the MBE practice questions. I completed about 55% of the MBE questions over the summer which clearly wasn't smart. I started using critical pass cards in lieu of the outlines & an additional MBE bar prep book and it's working amazing; I supplement with the Themis long outlines when there's a specific area in a subject where I'm getting less than 60% of the questions correct. I'm also writing my own outlines for every single subject which has been really helpful. I did it over the summer for the essay topics and I did great on the essays; now I'm applying it to the MBE and it's finally clicking. Oh, and making a list of every single MBE rule from the answers and comparing it to my outline to make sure I understand the concept correctly.
Basically, I've changed my studying with respect to the MBE subjects.
... I highly recommend doing what works for you & using the materials to your advantage in accord to how you best study. Wish I applied that this summer as opposed to just going with Themis. Time is of the essence and using Flex-Mode as opposed to Directed Study can be your friend.

I'm a CA repeater and will be taking Themis for the CA Feb 2015 exam. I took Barbri the first two times. I will start as soon as I receive my scores in the next couple of days. *Sigh*

I'm a first timer, and will be using Themis for the Texas Bar. I started looking at the materials. I feel like I'm currently all over the place at the moment. But I've found that writing out my own "outline" and "notes" by hand do help my retention. I'm thinking about supplementing with Adaptibar though.

I found the directed study program (or whatever it's called) to be useful in keeping me on track. It's not perfect since it's completely rigid and doesn't allow you to postpone or skip anything, but if it's not your cup of tea, you can always do the flex study program. The lectures are hit or miss. I personally found the contracts and criminal law/procedure lectures to be helpful, with remedies being completely useless. Others were kinda eh. Property was OK.LLB2JD wrote:I'm a first timer, and will be using Themis for the Texas Bar. I started looking at the materials. I feel like I'm currently all over the place at the moment. I'd also advise you to complete every graded essay/PT and to at least outline every prior bar question. I only wrote out the graded essays, but do what works best for you.

Will be joining you guys. Used Themis for the July 2014 California Bar Exam, did not pass (yet). I don't fault Themis for my failure; I know I could have taken it more seriously the first time. I'm a bit anxious to see what went wrong- shame they make us wait so long to see our graded essays.

Yep, you can, granted you completed 75% of the course per what they say.CAWondering86 wrote:I hear first time repeaters can do it for free?
I had to email a copy of my score report and the next day someone got back to me and I had access to the 2015 February course. The site has been upgraded which is kind of exciting - the interface is 100x better than what it was!
The catch is you'd have to pay for new books or just access the outlines/milestone mbes/full simulated mbe online.
I'm just accessing them online.

I am repeating the CA bar exam in Feb. 2015 using Themis, and I thought it would be helpful to either have a study partner or group to meet like once a week or something during the study process. I am in the Bay Area. Is anyone interested?
P.S. If it matters, I am a 27 year old male.

I just watched the Welcome to Themis lecture with Tim Allen. If they are all like this then watching the videos at 1.5x to 2x is definitely the way to go.

Using Themis for FL bar, started a week ahead of their suggested start date. I'm just going to do their directed study mode. It seems manageable if you don't make any plans... at all.

So I've been doing to Contracts MBE PQs. Is it normal that I can't seem to get above 50% on this thing?

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - February 2015 Exam
Contracts is the hardest section so there's a tiny bit of solace in that ... reading the long outline for your corresponding weaker areas in Ks may help a lot. It definitely did for me and I'm finally over the 50% threshold but it took some work since contracts hate meLLB2JD wrote:So I've been doing to Contracts MBE PQs. In my opinion, I thought Clark's Tort lectures sucked. Anyone else agree? The quality difference between Geis and Clark shocks my conscience.
I was excited about the lectures at the beginning of the course, but now I worry the lecturers and materials are going to be all over the place.

Just curious where other people are at in terms of completion percentage for the course.
I'm at 10% as I've been dealing with a cross country move this week. I got a phone call today from the advisor saying I should be at 20% by now.

I'm at 13% and, but have not completed the Torts practice essay or the real property outlines (pg 1-16). Those two are assigned today (as noted on the directed study guide schedule), but I couldn't imagine those are worth 7%.
Good luck with the move.

I used Themis in the past. Y'all can just skip the lectures, at least for any class you've taken in law school. I just answered practice questions and did fine.
TBF though, I might just be good at the bar exam. I did the NY bar with 20 hrs tops studying my friends' outlines and passed.

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - February 2015 Exam
I'm at 7% -- this is my second time using Themis and (1) I'm skipping the lectures and (2) I'm using critical pass flash cards and read the Themis outlines from my iPad so I don't always "check" them along the way via Themis although I've been reading them. I'm not doing directed study this time around.
Themis is mainly being used for MBE questions, essay questions, and graded essays SO I'm not even sweating about my small percentage completed - I have completed a good amount of MBE questions though which was my weakness
My first time around though I was glad I did the 75% -- so I didn't have to pay this time
But in retrospect, I should've tweaked the program to better suit me.

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - February 2015 Exam
I'm at 16%.
The first IL Contracts & Sales Practice Essay killed me. Covenants not to Compete were featured in the essay, yet I hadn't paid any attention to them because they weren't covered in the Contracts Handout or the final review outline. The question featured employment contracts, covenants not to compete, and enforcement of a preliminary injunction. I didn't even know where to begin.
