There's no minimum "per se," but the worse you do on the MBE, the better you need to do on the essay.

going from july 2013, if you get 50 on every essay and MPT, you can get a ~120ish on the MBE and pass.
If you get a 49 on the MBE, you need an average of 75 on every essay to pass.

I think that is fair. I have read some AWFUL answers that are considered passing for barbri. Getting a 120+ on the MBE is crucial to passing the bar. Very tough to get an essay answer into the 7 range I've heard.
