Patent Bar Eligibility Semester Hour Clarification

Post by gbelle » Wed Jul 16, 2014 10:46 am

Hey everyone,

I would appreciate some clarification on category b, option 4 requirements. The definition provided for semester hour still confuses me. My UG provided students with 0.5 credits per semester for each class taken (regardless of numbers of hours of class/week). I received 1 full credit of chemistry, 0.5 credits in physics, and the rest in biology.

I know my biology courses are sufficient for the USPTO under option for reqs, but I'm still unsure about the chem requirements.

My chemistry courses were required for a biology/chem major, and were comprised of 39 hours of lectures, 12 of in class tutorials, and 19ish of lab work per semester.

Can someone please clarify if my total chem hours would translate into the 8 semester hours? My gut feeling is that the 3 hours of lecture / week plus 1 hour of tutorial should be sufficient to cover the USPTO requirements, but I'd like to get some feedback.

Thanks!
