I signed up to take the course at a local school, but will probably just do the lectures on my own. Does anyone know if there is a reason to go the first day (such as getting an ID....email said to come 45 min early) as I may want to go to class a few times down the road just so I know I am staying on track. Tried to call the office before, however no one picked up.

Checking in. Am mainly focusing on making my own outlines from the lectures and supplementing it with the CMR (a little bit at least). Am interested to hear other strategies from you bros.

Also, watching from home is clutch because I think the videos move quickly through important material and it's been nice to be able to stop, rewind, take breaks etc.

How long are you all going to spend per day realistically? 8-10 hours like they recommend?

I went to our first day yesterday. The ONLY reason you need to be there is to get your id, which you will need if you ever wish to go to a lecture on site again. Since I have a commute of 30 min each way, I'm planning to do the whole thing from home. I think my prep will range from 6-8 hours per day (M-F), depending on what I decide to do on weekends. A friend of mine who passed the GA bar last year said she did 5-6 hours a day 5 days a week and felt fully prepared, but I'm sure sufficient study time varies by person just like in LS.

I don't think you're screwed if you go to a wedding or take a weekend off from time to time. I would work ahead some and plan to double up a bit when you get back, but given that this is WAY less work than LS (at least for me), I think playing catch up is do-able. I'm enjoying having time to work out again and to actually cook real meals. So far, it is not too bad (but it is early days)...

The averages are in the front of the MPQ book. My theory: if you are hitting at least average you are golden, since many people who score below average still pass the bar.

Have you guys noticed that people are seriously slacking on prep?

I have seen people leaving class for long periods of time, not showing up for class, or just on facebook during class.

This may demystify why people fail.

I stopped going to class, because I do lectures at home, and in fact I'm technically ahead because the bar class stopped a week for graduation week at this particular school and I kept on going. Plus, with at home lectures, I can slow down when I want to or speed up if I know the material. I did go on Facebook a few times in class because I knew the material fairly well.
