Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
Well people's computers fucked up and they asked us the most ABSURD SHIT. I felt like I took a god damned civil pro exam. If I have to take it again in July when there are civ pro questions on the MBE I'll die. This might be the last ditch effort I give this garbage. Too bad were all so far apart - we should have made a meet up for the day after results come

I am definitely a guy. Maybe AntiMe is a girl (because anti).
I didn't even mention PC, so what does that make mine? I hope the other stuff I put in counts for something. Not all issues are created equally, right?

Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
Probable cause under "special duties of Prosecutors" discussion. Prosecutors must not proceed blah, blah, blah without PC. I really don't think that's a big deal though. I mean is that really a "special" duty? Even mall cops need PC.
Urrgh! Lets not sweat it or even discuss it.
I'm hoping for lots of..."No way! I honestly thought I failed. When is the swearing ceremony" posts on May 16th.

Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
I want to complain and implicitly open myself to pity using this as an outlet, though. Of course, I hope there are more passers here than the 33% or whatever the Feb pass rate is.
But yeah I don't think PC was a huge issue. I didn't "know" it because I didn't remember it, but I just had a common-sense hunch. Of course I ignored it and went to talk about other stuff. Next time they ask about it, I'll remember it for sure.

Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
I think this topic was discussed a long while back in some other thread but...
For July 2013, a 125 MBE raw and a 59 average on both essays and PTs combined would've led to a passing score.
This is surprisingly since historically, a 126-128 MBE score (national average) and an average of ~62 on the PTs and essays combined is what is needed to pass.
I'm curious to see what gives for the drop in the average scores for last July's exam? Do you think we will experience a drop in average scores as well for Feb. 2014 CBX?

Meanwhile we have 3 more weeks to go.New York (which tends to be one of the last states to post).
Here's the website to change your profile: https://sbc.calbar.ca.gov/default.aspx
Before anyone tries to change addresses, check the requirement to pass the bar near the bottom. Mine still says not satisfied. Is it different for anyone else?

When I took my nursing boards in Pennsylvania (back in the days when the internet was powered by a gerbil on a wheel) we could call the State Board of Nursing and pretend to be the human resources department of a hospital and ask if so and so passed. That way we got our results in 3 days instead of waiting a couple of weeks for the shit to be processed and snail mailed to us.
I am still not satisfied.

Friggen NY. And of course my friends that took the NY bar say "Well we got our results early, maybe you will too!" No such luck because CA IS THE WORST.

Also, I'd like to think my Clients Love Fierce Counsel and Courts Feel Differently helped everyone kill the PR essay. It was probably the ONLY one I did ok on.
And I'm all about the pity posts. I would love for all of us to be the lucky few. I just HONESTLY don't foresee me being one of them. I had a second interview for a job (non-attorney) but still haven't heard back. CAN SOMETHING WORK OUT PLEASE?!!

My friend is taking the VA bar this summer.

Assuming 6 hours per day like here, it's like 20 minutes per essay. It takes me 20 minutes to read and outline an essay here XDThe Virginia Bar Exam is a two-day exam. Day 1 consists of nine essay questions and twenty short answer questions with emphasis on Virginia law. Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam.

My friend took and passed the VA bar July 2013. She said it was insane.

I guess the point is to be succinct and straight to the point on the short answers. Too much and you get poorly graded and too little poorly graded and not the right answer…I guess it was really tough. I dunno, I'd prefer those to our garbage.

*** WARNING: FEBRUARY 2014 CBX ESSAY DEBRIEFS - ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! ***

The above link is for essay no. 1, but all six are there. I listened to them all and they fucked me up (I misses issues and my analysis was wrong). But they are there and you should know. Enter at your own risk.
Good luck all.

Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
Hi everyone,
I've been reading this thread for a while and want to wish you guys luck on your results.
Also want to ask for some advice. I'm still in school (not in CA), but am taking the CA bar. I'm thinking of taking UCC Art. 2, Evidence, and Trusts&Estates during 3L year to help me get familiarized with the subjects before I actually have to study them for the bar. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Any suggestions of a different class that I should take?
Thanks!

Yup - I took them, and it definitely helped me when reviewing. Less subjects I had to actually LEARN rather than just do an in depth review. I went to law school on the east coast and took the CA bar, so I had to learn Community Property, California Evidence, etc.

Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
I looked at the videos. Some made me feel better and some made me feel worse. One thing about those vids is that they literally try to cover every little crevice of the essays, which is obviously not at all what you have to do to pass. To me it would be more helpful if they analyzed the essays like a potential grader would.
With that said, I can't believe we find out in two weeks. To those who are second time takers I seriously admire all of you for going through this process twice. I couldn't imagine doing so. For that alone, you all deserve to pass.

Re: California Bar Exam (February 2014) thread
I looked at all 6 debriefs too. I knew I missed issues so I wasn't too surprised. Some issues I didn't even know I missed were highlighted. I've seen past CBX model answers (both passing essays) where one mentioned an issue that the other didn't even mention. Both were model answers. You can miss issues & still pass. So there's hope.
And I agree! I'm a first time taker and to those retakers...you guys really give me hope and inspiration.
On the 16th, I'm going to spend all morning & afternoon watching movies (Godzilla, anyone)? Then at 6:30pm, I'll stop by a liquor store, take a shot or 2 of vodka, log in and see my results.
