Sorry, trying to see if I can expense three nights and Amtrak tickets, one night and a car rental, or if I'm out of pocket.misterjames wrote:why does the job matter? genuinely curiousSemperLegal wrote:Are any other NY big law people in the third? Trying to decide how to get there.

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
Does anyone know if 2nd dept folks can submit their affidavits when they come in rather than risk them expiring in 6 months and having to ask for them again?
(Now that we've established that no other dept has such a ridiculous requirement)

No clue but I doubt it. I think the point is that since you have three years to submit your app after passing the bar, they don't want to admit you based on stale affidavits.sd5289 wrote:Does anyone know if 2nd dept folks can submit their affidavits when they come in rather than risk them expiring in 6 months and having to ask for them again?

Yah. I submitted two days after the bar and overnighted the score certification because I predicted there would be a lot of questions (dirty past).misterjames wrote:Three nights?? just to be sure, I was under the impression that the first day the 3rd dept was holding interviews was January 19, and the first day for swearing in is the 21st. sound accurate?SemperLegal wrote:Nope. Off by a day.Danger Zone wrote:@semper: Your interview isn't the same day as the swearing in?

That fits, but keep in mind that Amtrak doesn't run early enough to guarantee same day arrival.misterjames wrote:just to be sure, I was under the impression that the first day the 3rd dept was holding interviews was January 19, and the first day for swearing in is the 21st. sound accurate?SemperLegal wrote:Nope. That being said, I secured a room. Any one (sic) who has to pay out of pocket is free to crash.

Has anyone who submitted their documents received the attorney registration form calling for $375 payment?

Form also came with the interview date - the payment was sent to NYC, and a certification form certifying I had submitted a payment went to third dept. in Albany. Received confirmation from 3rd department yesterday confirming my interview date and receipt of the certification form. But no confirmation from NYC.nyny wrote:Yea thats weird, mines came without the interview date in there, just the formDanger Zone wrote:The form came in the email with the interview date for me.nyny wrote:Did you submit the payment prior to getting info about your interview date?HLBE689 wrote:Yeah, submitted the payment and the certification form the other day (3d dept.)nyny wrote:Has anyone who submitted their documents received the attorney registration form calling for $375 payment?

3rd Division here: Sent out my package 3 weeks ago, got a letter (snail mail) today requesting documents. I sent everything, but only had a copy of one doc because the employer faxed it. Make sure you send originals! What a pain.

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
Is there anyone in the 2nd department on this step? Our instructions say something about going to the OCA website and doing it before we submit our application. Only problem is the link they have in the instructions didn't go to the registration form.nyny wrote:Has anyone who submitted their documents received the attorney registration form calling for $375 payment?
Blargh. I'm beginning to think the 2nd department is just making things difficult because that's more fun.

Nm. Of course the instructions had an outdated hyperlink on them. For anyone else wondering, just go here.sd5289 wrote:Is there anyone in the 2nd department on this step? Yea I just paid it. BTW I spoke with the 1st department and they forgot to send me my interview date and the rest of the docs, which they just emailed me. They are calling for documents from me.sd5289 wrote:Nm. Of course the instructions had an outdated hyperlink on them. Just so that I'm clear. This step we take after we submit? It says that we will be "sent" the registration form, which I have not received yet (but haven't submitted yet, still trying to round up affidavits).nyny wrote:Yea I just paid it. Re: NY Bar Exam Application
its basically a step you take after you submit your application, but at least 2 weeks prior to your interview date. When its time to submit the registration fee, your department will let you know. The registration fee form is usually sent to you with a letter letting you know when your interview date is.sd5289 wrote:Just so that I'm clear. This step we take after we submit?
