I went to do a practice today (just to remember what the interface is like) and realized my login credential were not correct--took about 20 minutes to figure out how to login. Then the software froze in the middle of my practice. I did a restart and everything worked fine.

Going through it reassured me that if anything goes wrong I'll be okay but I wouldn't want to be dealing with login problems at the exam site.
I'm confused. How did you do this? The mock exam was supposed to be uploaded weeks ago.
I was able to do it again after reading this. Went in and clicked to download exams, then take an exam and did the mock one. Got paranoid that maybe this messed something up so I chatted with an examsoft rep who said its fine, feel free to keep doing it.

Sorry if this has been asked before - for the MEE portion of the exam, do you have 3 hours to do 6 essays, and you can apportion the time how you like, or do you have to do each essay within a half hour period?

3 hours to do all 6, divide your time as you see fit.

Thanks! I feel like this makes a big difference, you can devote more of your time to the more difficult essays.

hey all,

Just question - does anyone know the approx scores you need to average on the essays, MPT and approximately an MBE score that would amount to the magical 266? Feeling a bit under it atm and some goals would be awesome.

Btw the password to open the mock exam is "mock123."

I thought it was useful to see what functionality exists on the program. You can't save or print though, so don't do a simulated essay or MPT on it.

Does anyone know how early we should get to Empire Plaza? I heard the July exam is really crowded and they will start at 9 a.m. even if you're still stuck in security, which could take a while (unless you have TSA Pre of course).

I could be extra and get there at 7:30 (which is when they start letting people in according to the ticket), but sitting there waiting for them to start and seeing everyone file in also sounds pretty tedious

I think 8am is the move. 730 is a bit overkill...

Has anyone taken it/knows anything about taking it at the Marriott Marquis? I know people are saying bringing cell phones is OK (just at your own risk since it'll be in a personal room)––that applies to the hotel too right? Anything else to note for that specific location in terms of logistics?

Asking a somewhat "extra" question but has anyone purchased some REALLY bomb foam earplugs?

I'm looking on amazon now and really want the BEST and most silent inducing (permittable) ones I can find. The disposable ones are fine but just not gonna cut it in a room of 500 people coughing, tapping, etc (preparing for the worst).

I'm using regular travel earplugs.

Friendly reminder to non-US citizens like me...if you're using laptops for the essay exams, remember to bring an adaptor for your power cord!! US uses one of those funky two headed plugs

I attempted to do a lot of research on this exact question last year due to my ADD and ultimately went with highish-end disposables and was completely happy with my choice.

This is what I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0106 ... UTF8&psc=1

Once you figure out how to insert them properly, you literally hear nothing unless the noise is right in your ear.

One of my favorite bloggers posted some bar exam tips and while most of them aren't eligible for NY, it was still nice to get a non-TLS perspective - posting in case anyone is interested!

I'm still debating whether to buy a new set of earplugs (I have some old ones I used for LS exams buried somewhere in my apartment) or a watch (hoping the Armory clock is visible enough). Definitely checking out the plugs that MrT recommended!

So apparently the NBCE email we get yesterday said we "Can't visit the test center the day before" is that like, enforced? Why?

I prefer Hearos Ultimate Softness earplugs. They are very soft, flexible, and don't make my ears itch like the 3M ones do. I suggest getting your earplugs now and doing some mock testing with them to adjust to the sensation.

I scoped out my test center from the outside the day before the exam, but didn't go in. They're not gonna prevent you from doing that obviously, but I'd be surprised if you could get inside the building to see the room, etc.

Same- this has been bothering me- I'm obviously going to do the walk from my hotel to the test centre 10 times on Monday to make sure I don't get lost so I'm assuming we're fine, as long as we don't actually walk in the door?

Yeah, there's no way they can prevent you from walking to the building and stopping outside. I think that rule is mostly in place to make sure no one hides stuff in the bathroom or something like that.

(The blog post was someone who took it in a different state with different rules about whether you could go inside)

THANKS for the earplug feedback, guys- I'm getting the Hearos Ultimate Softness & Hearos Xtreme Protection. Can't believe I'm spending $12 on earplugs. Never thought this would happen.

What are all my fellow coffee addicts doing?

Seems mildly gross to bring in lukewarm coffee in a clear plastic bottle, but whether it is mental or actual, I feel as though I don't have a choice. LOL.

I guess just hoping that I won't be alone on this one.

I would agree but caffeine during a three hour test would lead to many...erm...breaks for me.

I would seriously go for it if you need to though! Ever tried ice coffee?

Why not coffee before hand, and then coffee during the break? That's my plan, anyway. But I do anticipate taking a break every segment anyways, but for me its a nonissue timing wise (except perhaps the essays portion..)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
