POLICIES SET BY UBE JURISDICTIONS
While the UBE is uniformly administered, graded, and scored by user jurisdictions, the user jurisdictions continue to independently
decide who may sit for the bar exam and who will be admitted to practice;
determine underlying educational requirements;
make all character and fitness decisions;
set their own policies regarding the number of times applicants may retake the bar examination;
make ADA decisions;
grade the MEE and MPT;
set their own pre-release regrading policies;
assess candidate knowledge of jurisdiction-specific content through a separate test, course, or some combination of the two if the jurisdiction chooses;
accept MBE scores earned in a previous examination or concurrently in another jurisdiction for purposes of making local admission decisions if they wish. Note: candidates must sit for all portions of the UBE in the same UBE jurisdiction and in the same administration in order to earn a portable UBE score;
set their own passing scores; and
determine how long incoming UBE scores will be accepted.
This does not mean that NY grades MEE and MPT?

Jesus people. I think when OP or whoever interpreted OP's post (Hockeyman?) said "still grading," he meant NY bar administrators are still in charge of grading the MEE/MPT; it didn't change to NCBE grading with the UBE switch. Everyone else read "still grading" to mean OP was suggesting that NY bar examiners have yet to finish grading of some of the exams.ArtistOfManliness wrote:I can't even. Can't even. Hello y'all:
FYI, each jurisdiction grades the MEE and the MPT. The MBE is the only exam graded by the NCBE.
For this reason, I guess there are easier UBE states than others.

I took the August administration and received my results 11 days later. I am guessing you'll see those first (maybe even this Friday) and we will get the bar results October 25th. All just speculation though.zoomzoom88 wrote:took the October 13th NYCLE -- bets on whether bar results or NYCLE results come out first?

Based on that quick turnaround time for the NYLE it seems more likely those results would come out first.MrT wrote:I took the August administration and received my results 11 days later. I really don't think we will have results until around this time next month. I know waiting is stressful but there are so many new things for NY to process and so many test takers.ladymelisandre wrote:Is that actually a new announcement? You may be right, but that's just due to the volume of materials not the new components.zoomzoom88 wrote:I really don't think we will have results until around this time next month. Not that many new components per se, it's not like the graders haven't seen an MPT before, okay an extra crew may have been needed to grade the MPTs. Quite frankly we don't know how many of these graders haven't already graded in a UBE or MEE state.
Not saying you're wrong, just providing the other side. It wouldn't be so bad, unless it got to California style.

I agree -- volume is the biggest part. While every other state has had a dramatic dip in no. of test takers NY (rumor has it) shot up this year.

Re: NY July 2016 Thread
The message about the release date in early Nov 2016 has been there from day one. I highly doubt we'll have to wait until mid Nov as suggested above, but definitely not this week eitherzoomzoom88 wrote:hockeyman969 wrote:You may be right, but that's just due to the volume of materials not the new components.zoomzoom88 wrote:I really don't think we will have results until around this time next month. Re: NY July 2016 Thread
I would take this with a grain of salt. First, this has been on the site for months. It is simply a CYA just in case things go wrong (notice the word "by"). By all accounts, applications are down so volume is actually lower. Transitioning to the UBE could potentially slow things down but I doubt it. It's roughly the same amount of material and the grading rubrics are provided directly by NCBE. Historically, the results have been released late October to very early November (the latest being in 2008 -- November 13). The past three have been released the last week of October. Because the way the month falls, I would suspect 11/8 or 11/8 at the very latest. 11/1 and 11/2 being the most likely. If the trend continues, it could be as early as 10/25.blergasaurus wrote:hey all, the NY BOLE website just made the following announcement:you can check out the announcement here: https://www.nybarexam.org/NOTICES:

For the poster that commented that it may be this time next month, I cannot fathom a world in which the bar examiners would let that happen. They have specifically posted "early November." If we start getting into the latter half of November, they will be getting hounded with calls from neurotic bar takers.

And to add to that point, they likely would have updated the notice if it were going to go late because they don't want hundreds of calls like that. Since imho if it goes past 11/7, I would call on 11/9 (remember 11/8 is a state holiday-election day) and demand an answer while standing in a position of having a right to do so. I doubt they would want that.MrT wrote:I would take this with a grain of salt. First, this has been on the site for months. It is simply a CYA just in case things go wrong (notice the word "by"). Re: NY July 2016 Thread
Honestly I think it's a bit ridiculous that it takes this long to begin with. I realize NY has more examinees than other states, but there doesn't seem to be any reason they can't hire more graders. Several UBE states have had their results for weeks now. If the delay continues into November, they'll be taking almost as long as a state (CA) whose exam has twice as much essay material. There's really no good explanation for that.
