Hi,

Does anyone know how the Texas Bar calculate the dues? I was asked to pay:
Dues: $319
Legal Service Fee: $65
Processing Fee: $5.

I understand the $65 and $5, but I have no idea how they calculated the $319. Does anyone have a clue?

Are you barred elsewhere? For 4.5 years perhaps? I'm not quite sure how you got to 319, but I can get you close:

Barred 3-5 years dues = $148; Barred 5+ years dues = 235. Admitted in Texas after Dec 1 = 50% discount for the year. Dues for next FY (Sept 1-Aug 31) are already billed out. Thus if you've been barred for 4 years now but will have been 5 by September 1: 50% of $148 + 235 = $309.

Wow! You are great! I was barred in New York since May 2011. Your $309 plus the $10 one-time processing fee is exactly $319! Mystery solved! Thank you!

I got my results and failed the exam. My total score was 606. I just feel terrible and really need some help. I have mentioned my scores below and would really appreciate your insights as to how to improve in all the sections. I have only been using second hand barbri books and nothing more. Is there any other material to substitute for MBE preparation and Texas Essays. I thought the barbri Texas essays material was not that great as they just copied all the sample answers instead of breaking it down. Also its my mistake that I did not do enough MBE questions and I shall really work on it this time. Passers please guide as to how you prepared for the exam. Thank you
