An example of a perfect score on the July 2011 exam (i.e., doing the bare minimum to pass):

135 MBE SCALED Score (123 raw)
24 NY Multiple Choice
51 Essay SCALED Average (including MPT) - A 3.7 FUCKING RAW AVERAGE PER ESSAY

EDITED: Added what a scaled 51 essay average equates to in actual points.

Oh sorry I didn't see you typed the word state because bar prep has left me partially illiterate.

But in those links you can find the MBE raw to scale conversion per MBE year.

24 NYMC is pushing it. I'll shoot for a 4.5 essay score and 15 NYMC.

True :(

I think it looks reasonable tho. If I was grading some of these model answers based purely off points and the way that ex-barbri flame said essays were graded, I wouldn't give most of these people beyond a 4-5 points (except that asshat who cited the fucking NY statute down to the letter), which I guess they have to be at least above a 55, right?

that ex-barbri guy nearly gave me a heart attack. said goodbye to half a can of whipped cream that night. i'd be annoyed as a grader if somebody gave me filing fees.

Oh ok nevermind, I can totally do that

People just keep mentioning getting 6s for scores as fucking perfect but that's just like, the highest reasonable score, right?

60% on MBE
37% on essays
25% on NYMC

I can totally do that

This exam is fucking sick. I mean let's chop the material in half and raise the scores so you need at least a 50% to pass the exam...

Or better yet, make the whole fucking test MPTs so it's closer to real life?

OH NO! DON'T DO THAT! I did that last week and it freaked me out. Just realize that if you're scoring higher than a 30/50 on the mixed sets and can rack up like 2-3 points per essay (but knock the MPT out of the park), you're going to be more than fine.
