When I miss a question, I'll read what the right answer is, why it is right, and why my answer was wrong. Then I'll write a note down that summarizes the particular rule that was applicable to this specific fact set. I find it helps me remember in the futurebobbypin wrote:That is a great attitude to have! The fact that I got a question right about the Import Export Clause is astounding to me. That's just a mean spirited question to ask, it's so obscure.

Just finished the first CivPro lecture and looks like it's time to cop the Video Speed Controller extension for Chrome. 2x just isn't fast enough for this subject

So anyone else at the point where, if they wake up in the middle of the night, they just start listing off the elements of some test?

I thought you were one of the people recommending it. It's great. 2.5x is pretty comfortable with subtitles on, though I took conlaw up to 2.8x-3x.Nebby wrote:Just finished the first CivPro lecture and looks like it's time to cop the Video Speed Controller extension for Chrome. 2x just isn't fast enough for this subject

Question: does any one here use their outline (whether self-created or commercial) while completing MC questions? Or essays?

General question: if you completely do not know and issue in the essays, do you just skip it?
In my last graded essay, they asked about an Alford plea. Didn't know what it was so I skipped it, but my grader thought I missed it because I 'went too fast.'

Here's what I do: On PQ1 and PQ2 of MC questions, I'll use the outline to help find the correct answer. After that, I take them blind with no outline. For the ones that I miss, I write down a short explanation of the applicable rule.NaeDeen wrote:Question: does any one here use their outline (whether self-created or commercial) while completing MC questions? For the practice essays, I still use the outlines and probably will continue to do so until July.

Serious, genuine question: Why use the outlines?Nebby wrote:Here's what I do: On PQ1 and PQ2 of MC questions, I'll use the outline to help find the correct answer. Is it because the material isn't mastered yet, or is it because you want to get used to writing full, more spot-on answers than ones off the top of your head?

It's a little of both.unidentifiable wrote:Serious, genuine question: Why use the outlines?Nebby wrote:Here's what I do: On PQ1 and PQ2 of MC questions, I'll use the outline to help find the correct answer. For instance, I am at the point for K's essays that I can mostly do them without ever looking at the outline, unless there is an issue on a specifically arcane point that I haven't mastered yet.

I'm going to start doing this on my next few essays. Seems like a solid strategy for now.

Re: Themis Bar Review Hangout - July 2016
Just like Nebby pointed out, a little bit of both. I can only speak for myself, but I find that when I take the MCs after listening to lectures and creating my own outline (12 hours of work in total) using my notes helps me run through my outline to see if I incorrectly stated/typed the law--glad I did that today, I was missing a section on Invitees. I also tend to state the law out loud before answering the question and if I find that I'm stuck or confused, I can refer to the outline. And finally, it helps me add in those lovely nuances that the bar examiners love to trick us with--which are sometimes omitted from the lecture handouts. Hope this makes sense.unidentifiable wrote:Serious, genuine question: Why use the outlines?Nebby wrote:Here's what I do: On PQ1 and PQ2 of MC questions, I'll use the outline to help find the correct answer. I'll try this approach--seems solid. I did that with an essay the other day and it wasn't too painful so I'm sure it would work with MQs.Nebby wrote:Here's what I do: On PQ1 and PQ2 of MC questions, I'll use the outline to help find the correct answer.
