Passed NY as a foreign first time taker. Barbri practice test 90, MBE 139,1...
I felt horrible after the MBE. Thought I was guessing 90% of the questions.

100% Themis completion, 135 on the final practice exam, passed NY with a 164.2 MBE. Had the string of D's, felt like I failed coming out of MBE day. Go figure.

Passed NY. Took barbri. 90 on the midterm, 138 on the real thing. Completed 85% of the program. Congrats to all who passed and thanks for everyone sharing on this forum - reading this helped pass the awful wait time.

Used Seperac for the essays exclusively last 2 weeks. Guessed on every single NY multiple choice.
Guessing on NYMC TCR
I also guessed on every single NYMC. That was really starting to plague me with worry near the end. Guess it didn't matter!

Barbri Simulated MBE: 134

Real MBE: 166

Like many others have said, I had felt that I was guessing far more than normal and I would not have been at all surprised if I did worse than the Simulated. Accurate self-assessment on this test is hard to come by.

Long time lurker on the forum and still grateful for everyone elses' willingness to share info / anxiety / insanity - so I feel like I ought pay it forward with some stats.

Passed NY Bar. Score of 167.6 on the MBE. I used Themis. I don't have the exact numbers anymore but completed about 75% of the course and my mark on the mock MBE was about 70%.

On MBE day, I got a bunch of Ds in the AM - but also on the PM! Finished both sessions with about an hour to spare and decided I was better off eschewing second guesses and instead refreshed my brain with a long lunch and a big coffee (I knew from my mock MBE that my scores fell significantly in the afternoon).

How do we look up the scores we got on each of the essays/NY multiple choice? I only know my mbe score from the email that was sent to us.

I thought I saw that some people had posted breakdowns of their scores. Is that something they only tell you if you didn't pass? I got a 133 on the mbe and passed so I was just curious about what my essay score must have been to pull me up to passing

NY Bar first time taker. Used BARMAX, and I probably only used about 50% of the course. I did regularly run through the essays and outlines, because repeatedly skimming outlines is how I usually study. PASSED! 162.5 scaled MBE score. I thought the essays were easy but the MBE was unexpectedly difficult. (Barmax uses actual former MBE questions, they were not nearly as difficult as these ones were). The NYS multiple choice were just total crap, I had no idea there. I just want everyone to know there's no reason to stick solely to Barbri or Kaplan; other review courses are useful as well. I think Barmax is best served for someone who doesn't like to spend time writing practice essays and doesn't need a class schedule to stay focused. I just listened to the lectures, filled in the outlines, reviewed the outlines, and did about 1400 multiple choice. I did maybe 4 or 5 practice essay outlines, but didn't pay for having them graded. As long as I knew the super straightforward nature of the essay structure, I felt fine about them. Congrats to everyone who passed!

Passed NY with a 134.6 MBE
Took Kaplan and bombed both the midterm (96/200) and the final (110/200)

Gook luck everyone!

*Update (119 Reporting): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

Firstly, Congratulations to everyone in NY with good news! For those that didn't quite make it, I know a lot of very bright people who have failed. Most of them turned around to pass the very next time, knowing exactly what they did wrong and correcting their mistakes. It sucks. Don't give up! You. Can. Do. It.

Secondly, thanks for everyone contributing. Lots have said that the spreadsheet and your comments have kept them sane while they have waited. I'm definitely losing my mind less than if this didn't exist.

PASSED NY!!!! Scored a 138.6 MBE. Must have nailed those essays/MPT.

I was averaging about 60-65% on practice MBEs. Did about 6-7 practice MPTs and about a dozen practice essays. Took Pieper.

Did not feel great after the MBE, especially the AM. Knew that if I passed it would be because of those Essays/MPT.

Congrats to all who passed. To those who did not pass, I'm sorry. It sucks but the feeling is not permanent. Hang in there, and remember KNOW THOSE NY (or other state) DISTINCTIONS!!!

Robinhood.....thank you! This was the most comforting forum to look on as waiting for the NY results. I PASSED in NEW YORK!

For those still waiting:

Honestly, I was convinced I failed. Pay close attention to stats I posted below. I did not finish the MPT. You should have confidence that you passed if you were similar to these stats:

1. Barbri
2. MBE Scaled score: 147
3. 95% of the course (didn't take a day off and did exactly what Barbri said to do)
4. 123/200 on Barbri mid term
5. Had no confidence in myself on the MBE, couldn't remember a question days later. Felt worse about the morning.
6. As time went on I talked myself into remembering the string of D's in the am.
7. Did not run out of time on MBE, and felt I got about 110-120 right (raw).
8. MBE was nothing like Barbri's practice questions.
9. 60/100 on Barbri's final evaluation.
10. 60-70% on the MC's.
11. I was in shock when I saw my scaled score and you will be also.
12. Breathe, and have more confidence in yourself because that is what I needed to make this wait less painful.

Good luck to those still waiting. Honestly, I didn't have any comfort from reading any of the posts no matter how close the data was to myself, but you will seriously be shocked if you worked as hard as I did and if you find someone close to what you did who passed. My prayers go out to you.

NY Passed

135.5 MBE

Didn't do the Barbri midterm but did pretty much all of the practice questions, usually in 20 questions chunks, near the end was getting consistently in the 60-65% range on most of the worksheets. Failed February w/ 124 MBE so decent improvement, focused mainly on the MBE practice questions this time around studying.

Passed NY. Took Barbri, completed ~85% of it. Got a 118 on the midterm; don't remember what I got on the final but I know I bombed it. Got a 173.9 on the MBE for the bar exam, though. Hope it pulls me through NJ!
