Ah, I see. I meant you must use the facts from the file, not the case. If you prioritize the importance, case facts are probably at the bottom. Hope that's clearer.JJDancer wrote:If you mean pulling only a rule from a case and not necessarily using facts from THAT case, (meaning not enough time to analogize.distinguish) that could be fine. You could just take a the rule and straight apply it to your facts.a male human wrote:Most likely you will get little credit...PTs are about pulling out relevant facts. Pulling out the rule from the case is way too easy. You've been doing that since 1L year, and these cases have super obvious rules.hyc9598 wrote:I heard that in pt if there is no tome or to finish within time, extracting rule only and not using facts in the case is ok. Would that deduct points?
Not sure which one you meant. previous poster is right though.

Anyone have any general input or heard anything as to whether July PTs are any more difficult compared to February PTs?

Um, the Barbri Remedies lecture was completely unhelpful. What a crock of shit.

Remedies in general is a slow-stewed crock of shit, but hopefully this 2-page outline helps you get an organized overview of the main issues and rules so you can actually get cracking on practice.

Thanks. I'll check this out.
Seriously. The first remedy essay I looked focused on purchase money resulting trusts.
That is not mentioned a single time in the remedies lecture or the remedies CMR outline. It is mentioned BRIEFLY in the trusts lecture.
WTF.

And hopefully no remedies this year? After 3 full remedies essays in a row, one can hope!

They're gonna screw us one way or another. The testers know people try to follow predictions and patterns, and will intentionally try to throw you a fast one to screw you over. July 2013 it was the 13th amendment. Feb it was subjacent support, nonconformity. I'm predicting our "screw over" will be CA civ pro or a third CP/4th remedies in a row essay question.FutureInLaw wrote:And hopefully no remedies this year? I believe that it is also mentioned in the real property outline.FutureInLaw wrote:Thanks. I'll check this out.

Does anyone know if there is a deadline to complete your character and fitness application? The CA bar website is surprisingly opaque on this issue (or I am just missing something). I'm taking CA as a second bar and am in no rush to get all my stuff in (i.e. don't want to pay the fees for the character and fitness until I know I've passed).

I think that you have 5 years after you pass the bar exam to get it done. I am not sure either. Anybody else know? Also, how long does it take? Calbar site says at least 6 months, but I have heard that it is less (e.g. 4 months) if you are llicensed in another state.CalBar2014 wrote:Does anyone know if there is a deadline to complete your character and fitness application? My approval even as a relatively older student was super fast -- 5 weeks, 6 weeks tops, but I submitted in January.Carryon wrote:I think that you have 5 years after you pass the bar exam to get it done. Going through my trusts outline again and am struck at how it talks about the majority and minority rules across the country. Did BarBri not specify what the rules are in California? Are we supposed to apply all potential rules (such as the three rules for the duty to diversify)? Seems bizarre not to teach the CA-specific rules.

Mine has been pending for months, and like 2-3 months after submitting it, I finally got something in the mail saying they were starting to review it.LSATNightmares wrote:My approval even as a relatively older student was super fast -- 5 weeks, 6 weeks tops, but I submitted in January.Carryon wrote:I think that you have 5 years after you pass the bar exam to get it done. Thanks! Most jurisdictions (I think) force you to submit your character and fitness before you can even register for the exam.Carryon wrote:I think that you have 5 years after you pass the bar exam to get it done. I'm barred in another state and started the CA process in January; 4 months sounds about right from my experience this year.CalBar2014 wrote: I think that you have 5 years after you pass the bar exam to get it done. On a different note, if I have to retake the bar exam in february, do I have to resubmit the moral and character fitness app? it seems silly if I have to go through this whole 6 month process again.CalBar2014 wrote:Thanks! No. It is valid for 3 years, probably.target wrote:On a different note, if I have to retake the bar exam in february, do I have to resubmit the moral and character fitness app? it seems silly if I have to go through this whole 6 month process again.CalBar2014 wrote:Thanks! Nervous about the CA essays...
Anyone have any idea how many of the essays/PT typically overlap with MBE topics? I think I saw someone mention this before, but now I can't find that info. Really hoping for like 4...at least!

I'm petrified of the essays too!! It looks like over the past several years they've had 2-3 MBE topics on the essays, but July 2009 got 4, and July 2007 lucked out with FIVE!!yips wrote:Nervous about the CA essays...

Barbri lecturer said they don't test on CA-specific trust rules, just CA-specific Wills rules.CalBar2014 wrote:Going through my trusts outline again and am struck at how it talks about the majority and minority rules across the country. Hey guys,
after we upload and submit our mock exam from Softest, is there anything else to do regarding using our laptop? The CA Bar website mentioned signing a release of liability waiver to use our laptop, but I assume we do that on test day?

I think male human calculated based past exams 2 mbe subject on essays per exam.yips wrote:Nervous about the CA essays...

Re: California Bar Exam (July 2014) thread
Might have been someone else. I initially estimated 3-4 MBE per exam, but now I think it's closer to 3.
3 in July 2013: con law, contracts, remedies torts
2.5 in Feb 2014: property, con law, torts-K remedies
