I'm at 56%. I'm not too worried. It's really about memorizing at this point. You're behind, if your goal is to "complete" the course. You're in good shape

How's that behind. I'm about a day ahead of the recommended schedule and i'm only at 66%.deacon wrote:How are the percentages so far? I am %62 done, and I guess I am behind.

Thank you for letting me know. It just didn't make sense to me because only 23 days left and I thought the recommended percentage should have been higher. Good to hear I am somewhere arounddabigchina wrote:How's that behind. I'm about a day ahead of the recommended schedule and i'm only at 66%.deacon wrote:How are the percentages so far? Thank you for the answer. I am trying to complete the tasks, but at the end of the day, I have no time to memorize and review my outlines. My MBE outlines are like 40 pages for each subject, and it takes so much time to review. I was also thinking to stop for a moment, memorize first and then go for the tasks.BasilHallward wrote:I'm at 56%. I'm not too worried. It's really about memorizing at this point. Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
That's by far been the hardest thing for me, I finish the tasks for the day and have absolutely no stamina to start memorizing the mountains of information that there is. I'd try and whittle those MBE outlines down to 5-6 pages (if not a 1-3 page checklist), otherwise it will be unfeasible to memorizedeacon wrote:Thank you for the answer. I have been meaning to do the same thing. Because on the final week, it is obvious that we have no time to review all of the outlines one more time. But the thing is outlining the outlines also takes so much time, at least for me. While I am thinking, time also flies. Don't know what the best strategy is at this point.BlueLaw11 wrote:That's by far been the hardest thing for me, I finish the tasks for the day and have absolutely no stamina to start memorizing the mountains of information that there is. What should we be scoring on the practice tests/ mixed questions to feel comfortable.
People have said the Themis questions are tougher than the actual exam so if you’re getting around a 70% on Themis are you good?

TBH, the percentages are really wonky. As long as you're following along with their recommended tasks for each day, you should be in good shape.deacon wrote:Thank you for letting me know. Bombing con law and I've been trying to focus on it. Got a 38% on MBE set 4. Makes studying altogether really hard when some things look so grim
I am at 55%. Hope to get to 70% at least.

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
I wouldn't say Themis PQs are harder than the real MBE. I used Themis and also decided to purchase a set directly from NCBE. I found that I had already done many of the NCBE Qs, word for word, on Themis, and so I think Themis does a good job of directly mirroring real MBE Qs in terms of difficulty. And when it came to writing the bar, I again found no difference between the real thing and Themis. The bar was just as hard as I expected, but not too hard.Itwasascam wrote:What should we be scoring on the practice tests/ mixed questions to feel comfortable.

Having said that, I think Themis does a good job of testing all the different areas and question types, and so in that respect you're always learning something new with Themis PQs, which keeps your score down and makes you think it's really hard. I think the hope is that, by the time you get to the bar, you've seen enough on Themis to get that magic 66% (or thereabouts). You just need to ensure you're always learning from your mistakes.
If you're scoring 70% on Themis, you'll be good. I scored around 68% on Themis most of the time and (somehow) got a 77% raw score on the MBE (85th percentile). So I think Themis does a good job of preparing you.

Anyone see the point of using adaptibar? I feel like if you do all the themis work, it has you on track to pretty much do like 2000+ questions by the end

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
Personally I didn't see the point. Themis has plenty of PQs (I did 2400 by the end but I'm pretty sure there're like 6000 or so?) and they also have decent analytics to reveal your weaknesses, time taken, how hard each PQ is, etc. Themis PQs are also (as I just stated above) very similar to NCBE questions, and even include plenty of actual NBCE PQs. So I didn't see the point in oversaturating myself with study aids.ithrowds wrote:Anyone see the point of using adaptibar? If you're going to supplement Themis, it should be with something that Themis doesn't do. I got Critical Pass flashcards which were a good way to drill/memorize. I didn't use them all that much but found they still helped.

Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
I've been front-loading my days with memorization because of this exact problem. I'm using flashcards to memorize and have been setting aside a solid, focused 30-60 minutes before I start the Themis assignments to just memorize. Then, if I still have time after I do that too. I feel like it gives my brain a warm-up and I do better than just jumping straight into MBE sets and what not.BlueLaw11 wrote:That's by far been the hardest thing for me, I finish the tasks for the day and have absolutely no stamina to start memorizing the mountains of information that there is. Does anybody know what "simulated MBE analysis" is? I have 2 full days of that scheduled after the simulated MBE/Essay exams. IF it just them going over the answers in lecture format I'm going to skip them.

Anyone signed up for the administered practice MBE in DC this friday? I decided to skip the MEE/MPT part since I am nowhere near where I need to be with many of the MEE subjects for this to be a beneficial exercise at this point

Is anyone here sitting for the Missouri bar?
If not, what JX are you sitting for?

Missouri here. After seeing other states worrying about state essays I'm really glad our state requirement is such a joke!Pajsa18 wrote:Is anyone here sitting for the Missouri bar?

Thanks for this. I've bought Critical Pass also and have found them moderately useful, but haven't found much time to use them. Weirdly, as of right now, I actually prefer reading through the Themis Lecture Handouts than doing flashcards. Anyone else feel this way?Neilt001 wrote: Personally I didn't see the point. Also, does anyone here consistently do practice questions through the MBE Quiz Builder? Wondering how useful this is for practice.

76, 76, 76, 80 on the first 4 mixed MBE sets. Going to do the 100 question set later today.
Feel pretty good about that. Definitely seeing a lot fewer surprise questions about obscure topics I don't remember seeing, which is nice. I don't know if that's Themis finally being reasonable, or if I've just seen all the curveballs at this point.

Isn't Missouri also UBE and same as NY? Aren't the questions going to be same as other UBE jurisdictions?midtrains wrote:Missouri here. Re: THEMIS JULY 2018 - DISCUSSION
Hey !! Sorry for the delayed response !!! Doing well, at about 58% right now, focusing primarily on writing practice essays and memorization right now. It is a grind. The Partnerships and Corporation lectures and outlines were amazing, but I SWEAR that I go to sleep at night reciting, "AND HERE IS ANOTHER BLANK TO FILL IN..." and it is driving me crazy, LOL...! I am not even caring about my percentage on MBE right now as I am doing ok with that; my main focus right now is issue spotting and trying to write a coherent essay. I am coming from the Pittsburgh area but have to travel to Philadelphia for the exam (extra expenses) which STINK !!! but it is what it is...Where are you sitting (if you don't mind me asking)? Glad to hear you are doing well !!! 4 more weeks !!!LawIsLyfe33 wrote:Yeah I'm not sure how to send a personal message either. But I'm doing okay. Some days I have more confidence than others. I've been staying exactly on pace or a day ahead so I'm at 65% course completion, but I never read the long outlines and have just been outlining most essays.rastajacob wrote:Just a quick message to see how you were doing? I couldn't figure out how to send an IM or a personal message, so I just sent it here...If you know how, you can respond that way...Just seeing how a fellow PA tester is doing at this point !!! Take care !!LawIsLyfe33 wrote:Also doing PA Themis!rastajacob wrote:Checking in from PA. Just wanted to vent over Professor Clark. Love his outline, it is amazing...I JUST WISH HE WOULD STICK TO IT AND STOP RAMBLING...! It makes it so difficult to follow him, even on 1.5 speed, LOL...Perhaps it’s just frustration setting in? Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself and say hi !
I think it's a mix of both, but I think Prof. Clark just talked way too slow and it made it difficult to stay focused
For MBE, overall I've been at 60% for pretty much the entire course with no improvement or regression. But I did well on the two Practice exams (71% and 64%). Overall, I feel completely fine with MBE.
For graded essays, I've been struggling. I've gotten a 50%, a 25%, a 55%, and another 25%. If I don't state the rule perfectly, my grader dings me big time. It has me discouraged but I just keep telling myself he's grading excessively hard and I need to improve my memorization of the rules.
Defintely happy to be done learning new material and to focus on memorization and practice these next 4 weeks or so.
How's it going for you?
