How is every one doing on timing for MPT and MEEs? I cant seem to get my timing down to the 1.5 hour for MPTs and half an hour for the MEEs.

Are we allowed to copy and paste the facts stated in the MEEs and MPTs for those using laptops?

regardless, the MPT is likely going to be a test booklet, right? and besides, what could you really benefit from that anyways? it's not like a rule statement where wholesale copying will be super time-saving. the editing you'd probably have to do to re-word the facts would probably lose you time...

What do you mean? The MPT and MEE are in test booklets. You will not have a digital copy of the questions.Knickerblocker wrote:Are we allowed to copy and paste the facts stated in the MEEs and MPTs for those using laptops?

what do you mean the 40th-50th percentile? Like if we score 40%-50% in barbri questions we should be good going into the exam?MrT wrote:Not sure that's entirely true. According to Seperac.com:Love With The Coco wrote:68.5% is well above a 133. More like 140.
"The New York MBE mean scaled score for the July 2010 exam (based on 11,557 examinees) was approximately 141.86. A scaled score of 141.86 would be a raw score of 135 (based on the July 2006 NY MBE scale - this is the last exam that NY BOLE released both raw and scaled MBE scores)."
So a 141.86 was about 71% correct based on the 190 scored questions. It's notable that this scaling was from 2006, so who really knows. I think BarBri says 65% but I'd rather be safe and shoot high.
Ultimately, for those taking Barbri, if you're around the 40th-50th percentile, you can feel pretty good going into the exam. Obviously, scoring higher than that would be ideal and will relieve some pressure on the essays.

Barbri gives you percentile scores that show you where you are scoring relative to other Barbri users in the jurisdiction. You will have an even better idea of where you stand after the mock MBE is scored. If you are scoring at least in the 40th-50th percentile, you SHOULD be safe going into the exam.Fianna13 wrote:what do you mean the 40th-50th percentile? But to be clear, getting 40%-50% correct would not get you there.

Thanks for the responses!lolabear727 wrote:Thanks for the better response and 68.5% that makes me feel good!MrT wrote:Not sure the above is responsive. Like how many questions right out of 200 for the MBE, and average score for each essay & the MPT?
Found this once online- can't find it now- for some reason I find the BOLE site so attrocious- it's hard to even go through it lol but I couldn't find it there. I'd appreciate a link or something!
Not looking forward to this Barbri mock MBE on friday
For the MBE, you need a scaled 133. Since the change to only 175 graded questions, no one has a real grasp on scaling. But really, you need about a 120 or 68.5% correct.
For the essays, if you assume a 6 point scale (how BarBri graded it when I took the exam), you need to average 3.5. The same is true for the MPT.

Re: July 2017 NY Bar Hangout Thread
Hello guys, I've been consistently scoring between 40%-50% in my MBE practices. Am a foreign educated lawyer and this will be my first time to take the NY Bar. Would you be kind to give me some tips on how I can improve my MBE performance? I'm only 50% done with my Themis Review but almost 80% done with the lectures. On top of my low MBE practice performance, I still have to understand and swallow law concepts that are totally new to me. The struggle is real! So I'll greatly appreciate any tips on how I can improve my MBE

Re: July 2017 NY Bar Hangout Thread
Hi everyone sorry to join the party so late! I am a New York law school graduate and resident taking the uniform bar exam. I got the state part out of the way in March so I am just going for with all I have in July.
While I cannot specifically make any suggestions that improving your MBE score I do know that a lot of people swear by critical pass flashcards but it maybe too late for that unless you are simply down to review and practice review and practice rinse and repeat. However one of the directors of my bar prep program made an interesting point to me which has shifted my perspective a little and correspondingly my focus and method of study. As she pointed out, the MBE and it's Topics makeup 50 percent of Ube takers final score. If you are in one of the Ube States or jurisdictions, that means that AT LEAST 70% of our overall score is in the seven MBE topics and MPT's but that furthermore, since 4 of the essays on the most recent administration of the UBE that have been made available were on or included 4 MBE topics, that exam was essentially 70% mbe and 20 percent MPT for a total of 90% of the score. If we say they mixed in mee topics with some of the mbe essays and make a more conservative estimate - say only 2 essays were MBE topics, that still means that on that exam the MBE and MPTs combined ranged from 80 to 90% of the overall score. Therefore while i am finishing my last two mee lectures this week, I have started reviewing and increased how much i practice for (and generally speaking my order of priority mirrors this): mbe topics, then MPTs, then MEE topics that can easily be thrown in with MBE topics, such as conflict of laws, secured transactions, and trusts/wills, (plus family law, as it is one of the more voluminous MEE topics and thus I feel is very fair game for an essay), and then finally agency, partnerships, corporations (which are actually strong topics for me, so i lucked out there...).
I am not saying people should do the same, but relaying what i was told by a director at my bar prep company and how I have adjusted things to act accordingly. If you are looking for helpful materials on some areas, such as diagrams or flow charts, I have posted some that I have made (others are in progress) on my website and twitter - i attempt to on instagram but size limits on the picture tend to make doing so pointless. Www.blockbusterblawg.com or @ubestudying on twitter. I have a hearsay flow chart and two property diagrams up for you to use as you wish/if you wish.

Re: July 2017 NY Bar Hangout Thread
Kind of a paranoid moment question: I saw these last few messages on July 3 (today) and couldn't remember if I had previously uploaded the mock exam. I went to the ExamSoft website but didn't see the record of it at first, so downloaded and uploaded the mock exam again, today. It turns out I had in fact uploaded it successfully about a month ago, well before the deadline.MrWhitman wrote:I'm pretty confused about this. What do we need to do? But now what my online record shows on the ExamSoft website is the record of my most recent upload -- the one from today. Will that overwrite my original upload from a month ago, so that it will seem as though I missed the deadline? I tried calling the number but it's just a menu of automated choices. Am now worried that they'll say I failed to upload the mock exam in time and have to write by hand or something!

This is so confusing! I emailed ExamSoft, so hopefully will get a response soon.*IMPORTANT NOTES*
You must also take the Mock Exam and upload the Mock Exam answer file by 4:30 pm EST on Saturday,
July 1, 2017 to ensure that the software is working properly on your laptop.

Weird! I didn't get an email from them on June 26. Maybe it's because I had already done the first mock upload by then, so their system sent the emails to people for whom they didn't have a record of that. But sounds like I should be ok in any case. Thanks!!Slytherpuff wrote:They sent out another email on June 26 that bumped the deadline back to July 3.Samarcan wrote:Really?
