I don't think there will be any impact.
Don't expect the results before the mid-october IMO.

I don't think so! The results will be released final October as always despite the "official" date in mid november.

They always say this every year to stop people from hounding them with calls around that time. It is always earlier than mid November.

Im thinking about taking the NY bar in Feb. Is it a waste of time to be barred in both NY and NJ?

Both will be UBE in February. You just need to sit for one and then you can transfer your score, so it might not be a waste of time, but will cost extra money. Obviously if your firm is fronting the fees, it worth it.

If he/she took NJ already, then transferring wouldn't work (don't think this past exam was UBE).

Oops - I guess that was a RC fail. You can waive in after 5 years of practicing now that it's UBE. But you can also take the UBE to have that under your belt in case you need to unexpectedly relocate to another state before then.

Does anyone know when we typically get the letters from the bar telling us that we can send in our C&F applications?

The more I reflect on the bar, the more sure I am that I will need a very strong MBE score to pass. Those essays were just awful.
Can anyone good with numbers tell me, roughly speaking, what sort of raw MBE score would be enough to compensate for a very, very poor essay section?

How do you think you did with the MPT? If you did not royally screw up on the MPT and MEE, you will need a raw score of 125-130 in order to pass. However, the mean MBE scaled score is expected to drop, as MBE scores are correlated with LSAT scores. A pool of examiners who on average perform worse than the average MBE raw scores from all past administrations will mean that the scaled score will drop. In 2012, a raw of 130 would have meant a scaled score (estimated) of 140-145. From 2014-2016, the MBE mean scaled scores have dropped. Feb 2016's mean scaled core was 135 I think. That is the lowest in 33 years. Thus, in Feb 2016, if you had scored 130 raw, I'm guessing your scaled score would been 137-140. They will not lower the standards for admission.
If you royally screwed up on the MEEs (skipped an entire question/wrote absolute trash), but did not royally screw up the MPT, I would think you need at least 135 Raw so that you can get in the high 140s/low 150s.

Right there with ya, except I can't decide which I screwed up more the MEE or the MPT

A great response, thanks.
I think my MPTs were solid. I could have used some more time (obviously), but they were reasonably well-written and hit all of the issues. The MEE, though, was a trainwreck: only 2 or 3 were passable, the rest ranged from bad to downright ugly.
On the other hand, I did not feel the MBE was the bloodbath that so many described it as. Sure, there were several oddities, particularly in the afternoon (fair housing -- LOL). I thought I knew about half of the answers cold, and got almost all of the others down to two. So if a 135 raw will likely do it for me, that is considerable comfort to me. Thanks again.

Last feb I passed NY with a MBE of 128 if that can make you feel better.

Did anyone figure out whether the MEEs and MPTs are graded out of 6 or 10 possible points? My Themis essays were graded out of 10 points, but I've seen comments in this thread (I think) and elsewhere claiming that a 6-point scale is being used this year.
Need to know so I can decide which of the Seperac calculators to enter my "1"s into while screaming into a pillow.

Are motions to suppress evidence under the 4th or 5th amendments usually brought before or during trial?

Generally, they have to be made before trial or the issue is waived (although the court has discretion to hear an untimely motion). Don't know if NY has different rules or exceptions.

Yes, that's the one I "studied" from for the May administration. Just skim it while you watch the videos and you'll be fine. The exam software leaves your computer open so you can search the outline liberally during the exam.

FYI - Received C&F info from the Second Department yesterday. Each department probably has its own timeline, but they should all be coming shortly for those who sat for the exam!

How do out-of-state applicants figure out which department we're assigned to? Do we just wait for the C&F email?

Yes, BOLE will notify the correct department. The email should be coming soon, if you haven't received it yet. Some departments are definitely faster than others, according to information from friends who took the exam in previous years.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
