Re: NY Bar Exam Application
I don't know if everyone gets it, or only people who went to schools out of state. I registered under my NY home address and got an email today about the proof of residency. So I assumed that everyone who registered with the NY address gets the email. I might be wrong thoughHutz_and_Goodman wrote:Proof of residency? I haven't heard about this.EvelynS wrote:I agree. If you're in school out of state is it dishonest to use the home address? My email asked for written proof I resided at the New York address. It's just my perm residence.

I have a permanent NYC address (parents live there) and kind of kicking myself for not using it.AReasonableMan wrote:If you're in school out of state is it dishonest to use the home address? My email asked for written proof I resided at the New York address. It's just my perm residence.

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
If you never obtained permanent residence in the state where your school at, I don't see any problem with that. As far as I am concerned, you never abandoned your NY residence. Besides, for all other administrative purposes (not related to bar exam) you will be considered an NY resident. So, it is all good in my book. I don't think it shows dishonesty on your part. Going to school out of state doesn't automatically mean that you change your residence.AReasonableMan wrote:If you're in school out of state is it dishonest to use the home address? I did that, and got an email for proof of residence. So unless you have a valid NY ID,bills in your name, or executed lease agreement, I don't think that would work.Hutz_and_Goodman wrote:I have a permanent NYC address (parents live there) and kind of kicking myself for not using it.AReasonableMan wrote:If you're in school out of state is it dishonest to use the home address? Yeah I haven't heard of this either. I both live and went to school in NYC though, so maybe I'm exempt from this?EvelynS wrote:I don't know if everyone gets it, or only people who went to schools out of state. Got my handwriting and certificate of attendance emails today.
These are the only two forms we need to hand in, right?

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
Can anyone who just got certified in the First Department tell me what deadline they set for C&F application submission in order to get sworn in on July 13th? And is there any info on the swearing-in session after that comes after the one on July 13th? (Deadline, interview date(s), and the swearing-in date itself?)
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
I second this question. I'm coming off clerking, and there's a narrow window in early September when I'll have moved to New York but not yet started in big law. This is when it's best for me to interview and swear in. I'm in the Second Department. When should I apply?stendhal wrote:Can anyone who just got certified in the First Department tell me what deadline they set for C&F application submission in order to get sworn in on July 13th? Also, will we receive confirmation about them receiving the attendance certification/handwriting letter?

Both of these if they don't receive it you can't sit for the bar. So I'm not going to trust my school and the USPS.

^ Wondering the same thing. My guess is no, given how little they've communicated with us so far.
Also, is there a July 2015 bar study thread yet for NY? Or should we start one?

A friend who took it last year told me they came out around the end of June last year. Any July '14 TLSers who can confirm that?michael2015 wrote:Any location selection e-mails yet?

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
Still haven't received mine.
Talked to them on phone recently, they said if you don't receive anything by june 7th to call them to make sure everything is okay. (I was worried about my school actually sending stuff to them on time).
so June 7th is a good panic date.
Also, anyone want to be cross-country bar buddies?

Protip for those still waiting for their email (because it's a stupidly long email):
Just scroll down to the bottom and click the unique link for you. You'll put in your email address to confirm it's you, and then it'll ask you to confirm (or change if you want) your assigned testing center.

Re: NY Bar Exam Application
Just got the email. Live in NYC so I selected NYC as the option. Says it'll be confirmed once all the educational requirements are confirmed (or something along those lines)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
