They just added civ pro to the MBE, so perhaps barbri hasn't had time to hone their practice questions into the soul-crushing exercises they will eventually become.

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
Sorry if this has been answered before, but is there a word count we should be aiming for on the essays? Does about 1000-1200 words seem about right?

I've only timed one essay so far. In 30 minutes, I managed around 700 words.horrorbusiness wrote:Sorry if this has been answered before, but is there a word count we should be aiming for on the essays? Does about 1000-1200 words seem about right?

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
Sorry if this has been asked before but this thread is 24 pages - are the questions in the MPQ book and the simulated MBE the same as the ones on StudySmart? I am working full time and studying so I'm not following Barbri's schedule with their question sets, but I've been doing lots of MBE questions on StudySmart (self-study). I have not used the MPQ book at all. What is the overlap between the questions on StudySmart and the simulated MBE book, the half and full day exams in the MPQ book, etc?

Sorry if I freaked you out, I was talking about the CA bar's 1 hour essays. I guess I should have specified that.kykiske wrote:I've only timed one essay so far. Honestly I haven't checked but I thought they were the same.blue232 wrote:Sorry if this has been asked before but this thread is 24 pages - are the questions in the MPQ book and the simulated MBE the same as the ones on StudySmart? Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
I've taken four 30-minute essays. Oregon limits to 4000 characters, and I got in the 3000s twice, just over 4000 (and had to trim a little) once, and like 500 once on Property, because I just gave up. To reiterate, that's characters, not words.horrorbusiness wrote:Sorry if I freaked you out, I was talking about the CA bar's 1 hour essays. I don't know about the simulated MBE, but the StudySmart questions are the same. They're timed, that's all.3|ink wrote:Honestly I haven't checked but I thought they were the same.blue232 wrote:Sorry if this has been asked before but this thread is 24 pages - are the questions in the MPQ book and the simulated MBE the same as the ones on StudySmart? Whats the difference between the Barbri MBE questions and Adaptibar/Emmanuel's MBE questions. Are they easier or what? I'm thinking about buying the Emmanuel book or Adaptibar.

Barbri MBE questions are not real, Adaptibar (and maybe Emmanuel, I don't know) are real. General consensus is that the real MBE questions are easier than the ones Barbri gives us. I'm planning on buying Adaptibar next week or so.Learned Throw Hands wrote:Whats the difference between the Barbri MBE questions and Adaptibar/Emmanuel's MBE questions. Are they easier or what? I can't find a word/character limit for MPTs anywhere. Am I ok in assuming that it either doesn't have one or it could be specified in the MPT's instructions?

Is anyone else waking up at 6am trying to figure out a complicated mbe question that doesn't really exist?

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
My state's Admin law lecture was 30 min/8 pages. Professor claimed there was nothing else they could conceivably test us on.
BarBri diagnostic was 39 questions, 85% of them had zero bearing to thing covered in the lecture.
Thanks, BarBri.

It does not have one. That would be brutal for the many who handwrite.rinkrat19 wrote:I can't find a word/character limit for MPTs anywhere. Am I ok in assuming that it either doesn't have one or it could be specified in the MPT's instructions?

Is it the general opinion that Barbri's fake Civ Pro questions are better than Adaptibar's fakes?

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
Well, handwritten essays have a page limit (at least in OR). So I think the lack of a limit would be more due to the varying nature of the MPT final products (memos, opening arguments, etc.)stronitsing wrote:It does not have one. hey guys, hope everyone is holding up. How are people doing on essays? I find myself, unfortunately, outlining the "write out" ones a lot, to save time. I guess I shouldnt.

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
I loathe outlining and find that generally it takes me longer than just writing out the whole text. (Not just bar essays, but all writing throughout my entire academic and professional career).victortsoi wrote:hey guys, hope everyone is holding up. How are people doing on essays? That said, my essays are still pretty bad. The best was (unsurprisingly) the Crim one I did open-book.

I think 600-800 is more expected. I'm sure you could go even lower as long as you're efficient with your rule statements/application.kykiske wrote:I've only timed one essay so far. Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
Thinking I'll need to get some additional MBE questions.
I saw you guys were talking about Emanuel's. Given that Barbri's questions are...questionable...as to their applicability, I would really like to get some for a decent price that are actual MBE questions.
I saw that Emanuel's is from 2012, and so it doesn't have any Civ Pro. Do you guys know of any books with actual MBE questions that do include Civ Pro?

Re: BarBri Bar Review Hangout - July 2015 Exam
I still haven't had the balls to attempt one essay. I promised myself I'd try one this weekend but I spent all day today trying to absorb this week's materials. I barely had time for 1 set of MBE questions this evening.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
