I've only done two graded essays, and I tend to be pretty quick on these type of things but ended up running up to the 30 minutes on the civ pro one. That topic is the one I know relatively well, and so I had a lot to say. By contrast, I suck at torts, and even with open notes 30 minute was more than enough time. The fact that you have enough information to bump up against the 30 minutes for three different topics might not be a bad thing at this point! With practice you can probably cut the time spent down by virtue of getting used to the formulaic way they want us to write it.
Just confirmed my seat location! In state, so out of staters will probably get an email tomorrow.

For NYC takers, it looks like we'll be randomly assigned to one of the NYC locations when we get our seat tickets in July. Bummer.
Our location options have been updated to Armory Track and Field Center, River Pavilion at Jacob Javits Center, and "a midtown Manhattan Hotel" (but I'm guessing that has to be for handwriting people).

For those who already confirmed their seat locations, did you receive a confirmation email? Just checking because I didn't receive one but I took a screenshot of the confirmation page.

Hi, for all of the NYC test takers, it is unbelievable that we cannot pick our NYC test location and have to wait for the seat ticket in july to see where we will take the exam....... how will I find a hotel at that time.... this makes things hard..... I want to confirm this with all of the other NYC people (same option for all of you?)

Confirmed my NYC testing location, could be any which of 3 different geographic points on a map. I'm glad this is now also a scavenger hunt.

This can't be right... It'd be incredibly unfair and impractical for foreign candidates as well flying in for the exam. Has anyone called the board on this?

Lol. I legit reserved 3 hotels w/free cancellation by July 20. The Armory location is the wildcard, depending on how the A and 1 trains are doing that day.

We have until tomorrow at 2:00pm EST to confirm our in-state locations, so out-of-state people should start checking their emails after that.

For anyone with experience picking among various testing sites, is this something you can do from your phone? Do you need any additional information on hand? Assuming non-resident emails are sent out tomorrow, there is a good chance I will be away from my computer at the time emails are sent out

As far as hotels, I would just recommend picking something either in Midtown West or Upper West Side for easy transportation to both Armory and Javits. Or copy theselearnedhands and just book a couple with free cancellations.
The random midtown hotel is the wildcard, but I really think that would just have to be for handwriting people only. Javits River Pavilion and Armory should have more than enough space for all the laptop people.

I think that is only for people taking the location in NYC. If you are taking it in Buffalo or Albany which is the most likely answer - you'll have those locations. The 2 Albany locations are across the street from one another. I guess they assume that people that are taking in NYC, most are from the area and Manhattan is fairly tiny and that it shouldn't matter where the location is, you know that you are going to be in the City somewhere.

You can do it by phone. Type if your email or BOLE number, I can't remember. Then choose the location. Really simple.

Does anyone know if there's a system to whether they assign us to Javits or the Armory? Is it truly "random"
God help us all.

If you log back in, it shows you your confirmed location so you know you're set. But yeah, no confirmation email!

I honestly think it's random.

It would be great if they did it by proximity, but I feel like so many people are going to be much closer to Javits that it won't be possible for them to assign non-randomly.
