At Pasadena, they have this brown cardboard boxes where people are just supposed to deposit their cell phones. All mixed up with no sorting process. Strange

There was a surprisingly large number of people taking bathroom breaks during essays. I'm still convinced they were going to check outlines on their phones. So as far as phones go...Zaizei wrote:Is that safe? I was going to go just with my pc and a clear bag with permitted objects. No phone, no way to talk to someone if something goes wrong. I think you have to leave your stuff out of the "safe/security area" so you can't access your phone, at least you can't and after come inside the test area again.MrMustache wrote:There was a surprisingly large number of people taking bathroom breaks during essays. That seems way to risky. You'd have to have your phone on your person and if someone caught you, that probably would affect your moral character application. I just left my phone in my backpack in the lounge and risked someone stealing it.MrMustache wrote:There was a surprisingly large number of people taking bathroom breaks during essays. Re: February 2016 California Bar Exam
I think ppl generally trust that they've come this far to be a lawyer, and since nobody can get inside even the lobby unless they have a ticket, they wouldn't risk stealing and getting banned from the CA Bar for life.
That's my rationale. Usually people just keep things in their bags and leave it outside against the wall. I doubt anybody is really thinking about stealing considering their minds are already preoccupied with whether double jeopardy attaches after the full jury is sworn in or after a full prosecution.

Alright lettuce beef cereal.
What subjects are you most weak in?
<--- Wills and Trust. (Never seen a will in my life and didn't grow up around the concept of property/trust so it's all so foreign to me)

Yea I saw a box full of iphones out in the secured area. Nobody is stealing them as far as I know.
Proctor even said no wallets inside the testing room. Not even a wallet in your pocket.

Re: February 2016 California Bar Exam
Alternatively, go buy a $5 tracfone and add the cheapest minutes you can find. Total = $20 or less. No care if stolen. Keep your Samsung phone (because a smart law student worth passing the CA Bar would never use iOS) in your room/with your ride.
Then after the exam just go to the ocean and throw it in the water as far as you can in celebration (Tracfone not Samsung phone). I am planning on throwing something related to the bar exam, but I dont know what yet. They're all books. My ear plugs will probably get picked up by the wind and come back to hit me in the face. Hmm... decision time. Or maybe I should go back to studying Wills.

Pasadena bathrooms are outside the testing room, in the hall way. So depending on where you sit inside the auditorium, it could be quite a long walk to the bathroom.
Ontario has bathrooms INSIDE the testing room.
And there's creepy proctors who like to hangout inside the bathrooms too.

For people asking talking about leaving stuff in the car. I'll be flying from another country to do the exam. Won't have a car and will need a phone to get uber in a strange city...also need to take my food. Wish I could throw even some nuts in that clear plastic bag. If I can't then fine but it would be great to be able to just take even a sandwich so that I won't have the added struggle of scrambling for food during the break...just saying.
Not being a whined but so much planing, logistics, time, money, effort and life in general invested in these 3 days. I wish us all the best of luck and pray that I'll get some work done on that long flight to CA...good luck guys!!!

You could stash a pre-made lunch in a bag and leave in the secure area.
Good luck!

Re: February 2016 California Bar Exam
Pasadena has a number of lunch places available across the street in an outdoor type shopping mall. The cheapest is a Baja Fresh on the 2nd floor.
But Ontario is more limited. The closest and cheapest I remember is a Yoshinoya Beef Bowl which is like an 8 minute walk away. There's also a Dennys and an Indian Food Buffet in the same area.

Marriage
Upbringing of Children
Procreation
Custody of Children
Abortion
Homosexual Activity
Keeping Family Together
Refusal of Medical Treatment
Right to Vote
Speech Rights
Right to bear arms (don't think this is a fundamental right per se)
Free Exercise of Religion
Due Process
I don't think this is at all an exhaustive list, maybe someone can correct and add
Anyways, at Ontario you put your stuff against the wall too

btw my predictions are:
evidence
con law- free speech
trusts
pr
remedies- (not contracts-remedies but one of the other crazy ones)
crim- mixed crimes or murder or both.
civ pro might also come up as it has come up on the only two exams since it first appeared on the mbe. I think the bar committee is trying to see how much better we are at civ pro now that we have to study it for the mbe. Itll probably be a crossover. torts could be a crossover to- negligence or misc intentional torts.

I totally feel you, but we really only have 2 days (well today is almost over) of solid studying. After that, just a few days taking the bar exam, and we won't have to think about the bar exam for a while. Just remain confident and remember by this time next week, you will never have to worry about the bar again.juniormint33 wrote:Anyone else feel like their brain is just going to spill over? Aaaaaaaaand I had to review free speech thanks to this post. Couldn't remember all those pesky little rules about less protected speech, public forum, designated public forum, non-public forum, limited public forum...symbolic speech, prior restraints, commercial speech, privacy, obscenity, profanity, freedom of association...InTheWideLand I Walk wrote:btw my predictions are:

I'd feel comfortable with Property, Community Property, Contracts, Evidence (fed or CA), Torts, Civ Pro (fed only), Crim Law/Pro.
I need to re-learn Corporations, Agency, Partnership, Wills, Trusts, and Remedies because my brain is drawing a blank right now. And I need to learn CA civ pro because I had not touched it due to fears of getting confused with fed Civ Pro. My anxiety is starting to turn into rage.
