2nd bar here.

Can't get above 85% on mixed sets. Pretty discouraging. Took it in NY last year, passed. Taking it in a state that has 50/50 mbe breakdown. Last year the real mbe was 100x harder than the Themis full exam. Not sure if it was just pressure but the questions seemed harder. I won't feel comfortable unless I am scoring 85% on mbe. I barely passed NY.

Overall though, I looked at the barbri stuff and Themis questions at least resemble the real mbe. Barbri are completely different. It sucks because you can buy the real questions from the NCBE but they're like 30 years old and easier ( I got as high as 85/100 on one). Not like the LSAT where u can get the real deal.

But I'll be here--Themis is a great program. Jeffries is the man. Wouldn't have passed ny without Themis last year and going for round 2.

Thanks for checking in. I'm taking the NY bar and can use all the advise you can give.

Carve out time to do the evidence material ASAP. That way you can start on the mixed sets sooner. By July or even mid June, ditch directed study and gun to complete every essay in the bank. If anything, complete every mbe question and every essay. You'll be set.

If u have $350 laying around, which I didn't but threw on a credit card, cop DAT Seperac master outline for the essay.

Also, do whatever YOU feel is necessary to pass. You should know what you need to pass by June or July. Don't stress or listen to other people too much.

Buddy of mine took barbri, followed it to a T, failed and lost his job. That's the problem of a risk averse law student. You have to do what you need to pass and stop listening to other people.

My bad if this has been answered already.
Taking NY/NJ - I emailed them earlier this week, and they said the summary outlines would be emailed to us sometime this week, so I guess either tomorrow or Friday?

Mind if I ask what you got on the MBE?

Also, isn't it really hard to get 85%?

Not 85% on the real deal. I mean the Themis practice. Bc they're definitely easier than the real thing. Problem with the real thing is that there's just no available practice questions out there. The only official practice questions are like 30 years old. So whether they're harder or just foreign...I don't know. But they're different.

My firm paid, so I went with BarBri.

For anyone who is worried about their choice in Themis, I just wanted to say that, from what I've seen with BarBri, I can't imagine there's any fucking difference between these programs. I could imagine a well-designed bar program that was leagues better than others, but BarBri is seriously not it. Good decision y'all, enjoy your extra $.

This is not what I want to hear. I am only getting ~60% on the Themis questions right now. I was hoping the Themis questions are on par or even slightly harder than the real questions. If Themis questions are definitely easier than I am screwed.

I don't think you should worry about it right now. The goal is 50% now. They have the goal in the top right corner. You'll get better on the scores as it goes on. I have heard from several people that they thought the MBE questions were easier than Themis. It really just depends on the person it seems like.

I just looked at the date on the bottom of my computer. It's 6/5. Not 7/20. Relax man.

I'm definitely getting a better feel for the MBE. Most of the questions I get wrong in subjects I've already covered now tend to be because I forgot or overlooked something that I actually did know. You also get a feel for the more subjective answer preferences.

By july you start having vivid dreams about MBE questions. You'll be fine. Get into mixed sets as soon as possible though. Not kidding. Last year's MBE there seemed to be 50% property questions and everyone was like "wtf?" The only reason it was like that was b/c they were making half the contracts and con law questions about property.

So… is anyone else having trouble getting to the website to reserve a seat at a NY testing location? The website crashed.

Yeah one of my friends is having problems.

I kind of wish Kramer had actually taught me Property back when I was a 1L.

I was under the impression that all of the test companies intentionally give you more difficult practice problems because it will scare you into studying more and it accommodates for some test day anxiety that we may have so that our score is more closely aligned with what we will have on the real deal.

Its really early so I wouldn't be concerned, especially if you are scoring over the goal. Themis wouldn't provide too easy of a goal because if you are over confident you wont study, if you dont study you may not pass, if you do not pass Themis looks bad.

Themis looks good.

This is the impression I got as well. Especially after reading old posts from people who used themis...BronxBum's posts scared me but I did some more research and couldn't find many people that agree with his view.
